Buddy found a donor Shadow 600 for the bobber build.
300 bucks. Complete bike that "ran when parked".
On one hand I think the money would be better spent on new parts.
On the other hand its a complete fucking bike for 300 bucks (and hes missing a tone of random shit).
He sent me some pics.
Going to check it out this weekend and I guarantee hes going to buy it.

Well, which is it? A complete bike or a stripped own pile of parts?

The truth of it is the money is better spent on parts than some pile of junk someone is passing off as [insert your desired outcome]. Why not just go get what you actually want.

The one he found for sale is complete.

His father gave him "a frame" years ago but he was like "ok, what do I do with a frame?"
Dad just passed away and we went through his shop and found all the other parts for the bike (pic).
So now he wants to build what his dad left him.

His dad restored vintage bikes and there was only 1 shadow. Im pretty his mentality was that it wasn't a complete bike but a "frame build" and buddy just didn't understand- the rest of the parts weren't for another bike and its all a set.

Are there any genuinely light motorcycle jackets for summertime I can wear?
Even the "light summer" stuff from major brands that I'm looking at, like Klim Induction Pro, weighs like 20 pounds and feels like it's meant for northern Canada. I have an Alpinestars Andes Air but it's still a lot of very heavy plastic.

I look outside to get inspiration from real bikers but everyone is wearing t-shirts, lmao. Today I saw a guy wearing shorts and suede loafers, sockless.

Doing a test paint on the extra fairing I found on marketplace. Haven't clear coated it yet.
This piece that I painted is just taped and hung off the lever right now.
My plan is to find spare pieces that are the white ones and paint them blue myself. Keep the original fairings and not fuck with them because duh.

I think it looks okay and will be passable once I clear coat and buff it, but I know dbt will be brutally honest with me.

Any mesh jacket that lets air through will work up to about 95 or so in my experience, as long as you have something under it that wicks the sweat out to where the wind can reach it. Field shirt, workout shit, fucking rash guard, all work about the same for me, but I sweat like an Italian.

Just stay hydrated and realize you can never drink water as fast as you lose it.

I wear perforated leather and that's basically my takeaway as well. On hot summer tours I wear an athletic shirt that helps airflow too, sometimes soaking it in water during rest stops.

If it was just the height risers then I would say no, it's just a lump of metal with some holes in it that only has to take a compressive force. However with offset ones like that there would be a twisting force and you also want the holes to be threaded well. Not saying the cheaper stuff wouldn't be adequate, just don't go for the absolute cheapest. Maybe something in the $40-50 range.

It's probably best to un-loud it before inspection.

Onsa knows how to ride. She also wouldn't finance shit, she's too jewish for that.
It would be Chisame looking for validation, and Hijiri trying to keep up with Raimu that meet the sausage monster.
Rin would make a lot of noise about going fast but still take it slow, and Hane would drop the bike at a stop light/crash at 40mph on a very slight bend.

Update on fixing my cracked sidecase.
Plastic welding using a Weller soldering gun, with window screen and steel wool as reinforcement is going okay so far, though I'm only picking away at it here and there.
Kind of ugly, but not too bad, and it feels really solid.

If I really wanted to smooth it out I might be able to use some adhesion promoter primer and then a fairing compound or some bondo, but at long as there isn't any mesh or steel wool poking out to snag or scratch whatever I put in, and the repair holds, then I'm happy.

I have the VIN but I'm not sure which site is best for motorcycles. Should I just use Carfax or are they only good for cars?

i just got the 701 sumo, but im thinking about unironically buying a 390 adventure R when it comes out (the new one) additionally, just because i want to ride offroad trails in eurpe with a friend.

i know i could convert the 701 sumo to the enduro with new wheels, but i feel like the 701 is "too good" to have it messed up with suitcase sets and different wheels and whatnot. also i dont wanna fuck it up in offroad settings.

what should i do?

I was a bit scared the first time out after that stupid slip i had but after an hour on the second ride it feels much more agile and "right"!
i can totally see how it was kept back by the lowered asset: last group ride i was going kinda hard on turns but the old tires felt a bit sketchy at that point and i felt the back start to slip on a particular tight bend once, new tires are still very new and tried them on dirty after-storm roads but already feel better than those.

>>28465832
how offroad are we talking? you might just need to put adv tires on it and you can put on a soft saddlebag set on it and call it done. otherwise i wouldn't personally buy a new motorcycle just for a one off thing, you could get some older dual sport or enduro for cheap?

Weight may not just be about picking the bike up. An extra 50-100lbs sucks when you just have to live with the bike day in and day out, or when the dirt isn't level or as hard as you would like, or especially for my me, when I fuck up and become airborne.

Street Bob is a soft tail which is good because it gives you more options since the apparent hard tail is really a swingarm - so the fender and wheel move together. Better for fitment

no chance in hell, i like how youre proud of top box mounting but not somethign substantial like a chain guide. now i know you sure as FUCK diddnt print an engine timing chain guide, so you tried to print something easier to reach because youre a wrenchlet. so you went for the easily replacable chain guide, you did 0 durability testing, your shit chain guide is only marginally cheaper to acquire than a oem replacement delivered by amazon. go ahead, log off.

I'm also looking at an SFV650 which is the obvious choice
>1999 BMW R1100R - 65k miles - $2.5k
>2013 Suzuki SFV650 Gladius - 16k miles - $3.2k
but I'm still leaning towards the beemer because it looks much cooler and costs less.
Everybody telling me it's more dangerous and reckless kind of makes me want it more.

You do not want a bike with a dry clutch as a first bike. You also don't a 500+lb bike as your first bike. Let alone with as terrible front end feedback as that one.
Learner bikes exist for a reason.

An air-cooled boxer isn't that scary of a motor, the problem is that it's just old as fuck and German. The driveshaft will likely need extensive work, possible electrical gremlins, etc. The SV650 is much simpler mechanically. Start with the SV, if you get bored of it in a year or three then jump on an R1250R. The water cooled boxer with Bimmer VTEC is supposed to be an excellent motor, one anon here has the RS and loves it.
