Asking for advice from any anons that have to deal with rust often. '97 EK Civic from Southern Europe and rust is a non-issue here (almost never rains and the last time it snowed here was in the 1960s), but since I saw a rusted battery tray on an otherwise clean car as a whole, I suspected a battery acid spill at some point in its life and wanted to see how it was underneath.

Pic related is is what I found. I still have to extract the two bolts from the battery tray I had to shear the head from, but since I have no experience with rust at all, at which stage do you think this it at, and how fixable is it?

Anymore? Realistically no. Many of these had their H22s pulled for swaps when B series dried up or to have more power on hand than the B series out of the box, pending on where you lived. Add 20 years to the mix since it was discontinued, and now it's becoming a collector car. Just 10 years ago, I was looking for parts for mine and found a super nice one special ordered and souped up by a dealer for 30k. It sucks cuz I'd love another 5th gen myself. Keep an eye on craigslist. Sometimes deals pop up. Facebook MP as well. But you have to be quick. That advice goes for any good deal though.

That's a really good price for a car that would go for a solid 12-13 grand all day long, I would take a look at it, if it needs some repairs, I would still get it with that low of miles unless it's been wrecked or is in such shit condition that is basically is totaled, the 9th gen Accord is a nice riding car, my uncle had a 2014 LX autotragic and it was the best daily ever until some idiot crashed into his quarter panel and rear and totaled it.

Anonymous No.28477114
>>28477094
Probably 11,000 RPM Anon, it all depends on the springs, the way the cylinder head is flowing, strong rods, pistons to deal with that, a pedestrian K series will ran at 6500 rpm all day but I wouldn't take an engine like that beyond 7 grand shift points that the higher performance VTEC Acura ones do, it also just wouldn't gain anything because the engine is made to work at lower RPMs, so messing with the ECU to raise the rev limiter is not a good idea if you have a stock car made to save fuel and pass emissions testing.

That's pretty hard core if it's K series with that stupid manifold, vacuuming out and recharging the system is harder than the install, you're just mounting it on the accessory and bolting on the A/C lines mainly.

The heat over the past week or so has been killing my MPGs, barely getting over 30 at the moment. Guess it's due to the fuel being far hotter than usual?
Anonymous No.28478030 >>28478068
>>28477969
Your engine is probably getting heat soaked and not making as much power because engines like cold dense air to make more power, so in response you press on the gas for more air, which the engine adds more fuel to make it do what you want and gets worse mpgs.

Also using A/C makes the economy worse, and the heatsoak worse because not only is the compressor a load on the engine, but you're dumping heat in front of the engine.

I just did it on my xar
Don't have a photo, but the stock master cylinders have a big triangular metal bit attached with a fluid delay valve so the slave cylinder doesn't react instantly.
It kind of adds some fluid resistance in case you drop your clutch too fast without matching revs so it doesn't get hot spots and stuff from slapping together.
It makes the car way harder to drive when taking off over uneven roads, but when you open up it feels super nice.
With the stock delay valve when hitting higher rpms and shifting quickly it would feel like you were pulling the transmission out of gear and pushing it into the next gear before the clutch was fully decoupled due to the delay effect. That probably isn't good for the synchros and rest of the tranny but I'm talking out of my bum

Anonymous No.28479497

Yeah pretty sure the slave has some sort of valve in it too, they were different part numbers at least
If you try a master/slave with no delay valve/damper don't install it at the same time as a new clutch/flywheel
Do it a month or two before because it takes some getting used to and it is better that it happens on the outgoing unit lol.

Check for blown A/C compressor relay, that is very cheap and can make an otherwise perfect A/C system not click the compressor on, then you move onto hooking up a set of A/C pressure gauges to see how much is in there, and if there's nothing in there, than there's a good chance the compressor leaked it out and the system should have UV dye to put in to see where it's leaking when you shine a light on it.

I've got a 2000 EJ8 with a no spark issue. plugs are good, fuses are good, i've replaced the ignition module and coil with new ones, as well. the PGM-FI relay is clicking in the glove box hole and the fuel pump energizes. it has 12V at the wire that feeds the ignition coil.
the strange thing is that it's not a 100% of the time, no spark. rarely it will actually work. last time it started, i pulled it into the garage to do a compression test on it (200psi across the board) as I thought it was an engine issue. after putting the plugs back in and reconnecting the fuel injectors it had no spark and wouldnt start.
any ideas on what could be wrong?

Honestly Anon, hard use can beat up brakes, my Accord can't even get years out of brake pads because I'm so stop and go, and when it comes to stuff like axles and suspension bits wearing out, a lot of it could've been hard use by the previous owner, but age is also a factor, things just kinda fall apart after enough time is passed, my Accord has the equivalent of 283,263 kilometers in 21 years which is actually pretty low for the age, but it's had to have all the mounts done, suspension arms re-bushed, shit like oil and power steering leaked and cost money, it just was part of having an old car, I actually think your 2009 hasn't been all that needy for being a used car bought 7 years ago with miles on it. axles and breaks and ball joints are wear items, and all cars have them, you cannot escape it, you can only fix it and send the car down the road, hopefully before the ball joint fails.

Good deal Anon, potholes will beat your car to hell, and it looks like rust is also eating up your 2009 which may cause stuff like this to happen due to the harsh climate accelerating wear on things, if the damage to the fender from the car falling on the ground is gonna bother you like it would me, maybe getting the 2011 would be ideal, and then doing it's oil changes on a 6 month basis at a place like the Honda dealership for $59.95 would prevent a suspension failure, those people may not get the car in and out in 20 minutes like a quik lube place, because you are getting a free multi point inspection, and as much as I don't like to hear that the car needs something like tie rods or some bullshit suspension thing, or brakes, belts, fluids, whatever, it would've been nice to know that the ball joints were in poor condition before they failed and damaged your car.

I hate to break it to you bro but pics with shit like cars, fish, hunting, and guns (anything male dominant) typically won't get the reaction you want on a dating profile. I suppose if you are looking for a very specific type of girl, then maybe it could work. Usually a girl will swipe left on a fish faster than anything
I do portrait and couples photography so all I can suggest is hire a local one and get them to do some good poses for you in a setting that has good lighting and is aesthetic, (sunset etc.) Having one or two really good photos as your first impression are essential. Clean up your hair/beard and wear nice clothes for the shoot. As much as I love Hondas, a Fit isn't going to get you bitches.
Try and get some photos of you doing another hobby that isn't one of the ones I mentioned. A picture with a group of friends is good to have too because it shows sociability, you know, assuming you aren't a total shut-in.
Pic rel is a photo of a friend on the beach that I would classify as aesthetic enough for a dating profile. If you don't want to do all that, the reality is all you really need is a few candid photos that can even be done with your friend's phone. Something with you smiling/laughing/being a goof is always a winner. Hope this helps anon! I wish you luck on your hunt for poon, as I'm doing the same

If you're looking for a basic commuter, the base civic sport is almost overkill, it's more than enough to be comfortable with the regular 8 speaker audio system and carplay, the TOURING would get you an amplified audio system and a slightly larger infotainment, but it's not necessary to have leather seats from a TOURING in your everyday car, if anything I prefer cloth seats on the daily.
