what about people who are left turning and have to stop to wait for an opening. how the hell do you not brake upon seeing a stopped car?

Maybe it would have stayed in place if there weren't the equivalent of two people sitting on it.

Maybe. Either way, the seat catastrophically failed at its one safety-related purpose.

While replaying the video, I couldn't help but notice that the man is bald

How do we know the scoffer isn't just stopped at a stop light? The yellow bus appeared to be stopped too.

Seats aren't designed to hold more than one person. Such a load is outside of its intended use.

That wasn't even a thing until 2014 when they introduced a 250 lb dummy. There's a new one that's supposed to be 273 lbs to be developed for validation testing, although no testing institute wants to use it, citing that the car should be safe so long as the occupant compartment isn't compromised.

We're going in the wrong direction. Let the fatties die out as a result of their poor decision making and impulse control.

My car has already been hit twice at red lights or stop signs. People just do not see small cars at all. I plastered it with blinding amounts of reflective tape, and I'm just hoping that it completely shifts the fault to them because at this point my car is a safety vest on wheels.

Shit, my dream car I'm aiming for even smaller than the one I'm driving now. I'll probably just get run over one day.

>>28467997
>We're going in the wrong direction.
I think we actually are going in the right direction, because no institute wants to adopt it, therefore allowing fatties to die of poor decisions and poor impulse control.
Anonymous No.28468009 [Report]
Three things to point out.
The bus is in the left most lane and has a different light to turn left or around.
A pickup in the opposing lane also crosses the junction.
The car in the right lane didn't stop but neither had a vehicle in the lane blocking them.

Speculation
Until recently zoomers look at their phones instead of driving, or people just don't know how to drive anymore. Even if the van was at a stop the rear ender that was so far behind it should have been able to stop. This is why cars have automatic braking, but that ramming old pickup didn't.

Well yeah, when the average americuck is sitting in a truck that rides 17 feet off the ground (before mandatory lift kit), they don't see shit that's right in front of them.

I've been driving small cars from original Minis, TR6s and a couple miats for 20 years and never been rear ended like this.
Is this about American problem?

Hey man, i'm 6'6, moderately athletic, and weigh 250 lbs. I'd like to know how guys like me would fare in a crash with certain seats

oh wait the dummies are modeled after lardasses instead of tall people. lmao fuck that

Yeah I'm not in America getting rear ended by 500kg blobs operating a 10,000kg truck. Feels good.
Anonymous No.28468040 [Report] >>28468343

>Is this about American problem?
It's distinctly American. My car is about 58 inches (1.47m) tall, so it's short enough that it's not always visible to a truck driver, especially if they own a newer truck. The unmodified hood height is 54 inches (1.37m) to 60 inches (1.52m).
>>28468012
The primary issue in my case isn't necessarily the size, but rather that many drivers these days use their smartphone more than they drive, so they don't notice signs or lights. The size of the vehicle only amplifies the carnage. The near misses are getting truck sized though, so it's only a matter of time before some retard totals his $100k truck into my $800 shitbox.

>oh wait the dummies are modeled after lardasses instead of tall people
That's one of the big reasons why insurance testing institutes don't want to validate heavier dummies. It doesn't provide enough context. Is this guy just really tall, broad, or just really fucking fat? The variability significantly increases with each linear inch or linear pound increase.
