I don't think I can post here anymore, guys.
I started my new job at my local Honda Powersports dealer yesterday. I don't want to seem like I'm shilling or pushing when I'm just trying to have fun. My other friend who works for Harley stopped using his favorite boomer forums when he started, and I think that was a good idea. Maybe if I move onto selling cages or just something different in a couple years I can come back, but until then... Goodbye. :(

I've just gotten really deep into it to ensure I know everything about all the bikes and their history, and stuff I didn't care about like SXSs and ATVs (just doing my job, but it seems like a lot of my coworkers haven't) and now I feel like I've gotten a bug in my head.

also tested out this new jacket I picked up off ebay, some old guy was selling his basically brand new fox creek leather jacket for like $300 or so, talked him down to $250
considering the original price is over $600 I figure I got a good deal, especially when I skipped the ridiculous $35 shipping fee by picking it up from him in person

Great, but I think that means they should know their shit. I made flashcards for all the models and categories. I learned whatever little acronym and detail meant. I read up on all upcoming and new models. I memorized the history of every model. I don't think the first customers I met with the guy I'm shadowing until I'm actually allowed to sell should know more than him and force him to look like a fool. I thought he was testing me at first, but no, he actually just knows shit about everything in there and he's not even the worst.

Depends on a few things anon.
I'm about 1.85m in non freedom units tall and the windscreen works very well, the turbulent wind from from the screen goes about to my neck and stays off my helmet so that cuts out a lot of noise, I also wear ear plugs and have a decently isolating lid that cuts down on most of the wind noise. I can comfortably sit for an hour and a half at those speeds before fuel starts to run low and I get fatigue from all the noise.
It's decent enough protection for an "everything" style of bike.

Try to schedule a test drive if you can, most yamaha dealer's I rang up when I was looking to buy had a t7 for available for a test ride.

Not a chance in hell, I went up to 243 last weekend and was consistently getting smoked off the line by my buddy on his XSR700 and the same has happened with a vstronk650. This bike weighs 470lbs and makes about 100hp. Itโ€™s really not that quick all things considered.
But the feeling from constantly screaming it out in each corner, downshifting to 10k and screaming it back up to 13 on my way, the feeling from that smooth power delivery where you canโ€™t even notice how fast youโ€™re accelerating, the feeling from the sound it makes all throughout the powerband, the feeling I get parking it and looking back at such a beautiful and dense concentration of early 2000โ€™s sportbike heritage and culture is all unmatched. I love my FZ6, thereโ€™s very few bikes I think I like more after getting to know it so well. I love motorcycles bros

My neighborhood riding group finally went for our first outing yesterday. Mix of beginner bikes, big boomer-esque touring bikes, and performance stuff. Harleybros were waving at us and giving us space even though we were a group made up of no Harleys and mixed shit, meanwhile Jackasses on liter bikes were bombing past a couple inches from our newer riders for no reason.
Where's this stupid meme from? Those fatasses on hogs were the ones being the coolest. Racing past someone on a kawi eliminator or RE Meteor who's already uncomfortable on the highway that were trying to help gain confidence isn't helpful.
Otherwise fun ride and we got our newer riders feeling better about longer(ish) and group riding. Hopefully we can continue to do this and grow everyone's skill. Not exactly the riding I normally do, as I had to keep up the rear for safety as one of only two guys in our group with group experience, but helping my neighbors is fun enough.

I have an armor vest, an armor jacket (not really for summer?)
I have armor pants, and armor over pants
(The over pants can go over other pants, how do they not let you know which are over pants?)

And I'm wonder if i should get some armor shorts or armor shirt or something.

I went downtown Friday night, looking at all the nightlife and stuff going on. Was trying to find a good spot to take a new pic so I stopped on this back street in an old warehouse district. This car pulls up under the viaduct I wanted to use as a backdrop and just sits there for a minute. I'm watching it because I'm in a kind of shady area. It eventually pulls out and I think it's leaving so I relax a little, but the reverse lights come on and it's backing toward me. Now I'm even more alert. This dude gets out of the car and just stares at me a second before walking toward me, and I'm staring back at him because I don't know wtf he's doing. It's a weird part of town, I'm in front of an old ass warehouse, there's nothing around but train tracks and the viaduct, and it's 1AM. I become keenly aware of how long it would take to pull my gun out of my jackets gun pocket.
Dude says, "how ya doin?" Pulls out a key, and goes in the buulding.

He has another video on his channel where he is running lap times and that ramp is on his rout. Looks like he is using highway ramps as a makeshift track. I'll admit Ive done stuff like this too, but I'm smart enough to do it early mornings on the weekend when there's hardly any traffic out.

Rode for the first time for the street for real today, with cars and traffic. I almost feel like it's a little safer at dusk since cars can actually see my turn signals, lol.

But I have a technical question, about engine braking. This thing has stronger engine braking (when letting off the throttle) than any other vehicle I've seen. At first I was stopping by using the clutch and the brake like they taught me in MSF course, but I realized it brakes much faster if I DON'T pull the clutch in. By the end of the ride I was doing it both ways, engine braking when I see the red light and then pulling in the clutch and using the real brake when I'm closer to the light. Is that how most of you do it? Is tons of engine braking bad for the engine's health over time?

Its not, there will be cars without headlights, tired drivers and angry rushing drivers. Early morning is safest if you want that

>This thing has stronger engine braking (when letting off the throttle) than any other vehicle I've seen.
Thats because its so light. It foesnt have higher compression than your car, but being a 5th of the weight makes a huge difference. Its one of my favourite parts about riding motorcycles

>At first I was stopping by using the clutch and the brake like they taught me in MSF course, but I realized it brakes much faster if I DON'T pull the clutch in.
You are meant to pull the clutch in as you come to a stop, not while slowing. If you are slowing to a stop you need to be changing down the gears. Go between braking and downshifting while you are learning, ie
brake, 3rd, brake, 2nd, brake, clutch in, click 1st while stopped. Worry about rev matching and shit later

>By the end of the ride I was doing it both ways, engine braking when I see the red light and then pulling in the clutch and using the real brake when I'm closer to the light. Is that how most of you do it?

Some find them comfortable. I size my apes at 14" + 2" risers which is common for those around 6'2". I did USAF MSF demos with them on my FXR and other bar styles on my other bikes. Not a problem whatever.

Cross-country was not an issue because not bar height but width and handgrip angle are most critical to comfort. My apes angles are fairly close to the XLX (looks like classic airhead BMW bars but 1" OD) bend bars I use on other bikes.

The only handle bars I find actively hostile are pullbacks because of their awkward wrist position. Ergos vary so much I suggest every rider sample a variety of bar and footpeg positions to find what fits their body and preferences. For example some stunters like motocross style bars (which are excellent for that).

Could be. They were common in West Germany.

It's neat how many LC family parts were used in Banshee.

Evo or Twinkie? What year? Accessories?

5K could be reasonable if it's in good shape. People hate seeing money walk away.

It was an 88 twin cam, I was 2nd in line so the other guy bought it before I could take a look. I asked the seller how much he sold it for just to get a better feel for prices. He actually said $4300, which I believe since he told me he has some other bikes for sale so he has no reason to artificially depress the market. Then again I never got a chance to see the bike, the pictures didn't show a lot so maybe it really wasn't even worth $5k.
