Anyone ever own a "cursed car"? As in nonstop mechanical issues, or they just attract dings and dents?
>Buy fun older car 6 months ago
>Know it has some alignment issues due to limited adjustment from the factory, timing belt unknown age
>Get camber plates and adjustable control arms to fix alignment, front tires are roasted already
>Do timing belt
>Get new front tires and align it
>Ignition coil goes out
>Thermostat housing cracks, car gets hot but doesn't overheat
>Also find out fans aren't kicking on
>Replace plastic one with aluminum one
>New cooling fan resistor
>Rad hoses start leaking because hoses are old and getting hot swelled them
>Replace them
>Get into car to start it and burp system
>Brake fluid on floor mats, clutch master blew a seal
>Steering rack literally strips a tooth on the freeway
>Replace it, align again
>Coolant overflow is part of the pressurized system, cracks and starts pissing coolant
>Fan resistor goes bad, replace it again
>Ball joint goes out
>Finally fixed this absolute basket case, have a pleasant drive
>Get a nail in the sidewall of one of my rears

>be me, 2022
>ride with friends to tail of the dragon, 700 miles from where I live
>have a blast
>decide that I need a highway capable vehicle
>have old Chevy van, love it but has a 3 speed auto
>driving that thing on a 1400 mile road trip would suck ass
>decide I need sedan
>find 1990 crown victoria
>$1200
>no fuckin rust!!!!!
>buy the thing
>have to replace a broken window
>unfuck the window motors
>figure out how to make parking brake light work for inspection
>install spare headunit and speakers since it had none
>drive to friend and use his lift to do brakes, diff, and a belt
>fail inspection
>800 bucks for oil pan gasket and engine mounts
>800 bucks again for tires and exhaust and shit
>pass inspection
>400 bucks to get the AC working and also trans mount
>new window motors
>2023
>take it to the dragon
>break down a few times
>coil is overheating
>someone hunts down an NGK coil, swap it in
>all good, make it home
>another 400 bucks on AC
>2024
>buy amazon radiator since it got too warm down south
>radiator lets coolant into the trans
>pay the 700 fucking dollar idiot retard tax to get it fixed (and also the AC again)
>new radiator seems to hold
>finally get fed up with the fan shroud fighting the fan
>swap to electric fan
>replace entire ignition system
>new 3G alternator
>add GMRS and CB radios
>new (less old) rear speakers
>new H4 headlight housings
>new headlight wiring harness that enables 4x lows and 4x highs
>add side-lights for cornering, wired to high beams
>test drive
>finally I can test drive it
>car warms up too much at idle but that's okay at least I can drive it
>almost home
>FUEL PUMP FUCKING DIES??????
>manage to get home with only two breakdowns
>order fan shroud with two fans instead of one
>order fuel pump

And that's where we are folks, hope I get it running in time for the dragon once more in October!
And before you ask, yes, all of the suspension bushings are crumbling into dust!
Wish I could say van has been easier, but nah....

Honorable mentions I forgot about
>rebuilt odometer because it didn't work (wound it to 00000 cause fuck it)
>swapped all the door panels for ones from a grand marq, added cupholders too
>added vacuum gauge, tachometer, voltmeter, and front/rear dashcam
>paid a boomer who used to work on these rolling basket cases $600 to rip off the tattered vinyl top and repaint it (this was less than 100 miles before I fucked it all up with the radiator)
>had $15 Monroe shocks put on it before the dragon in 2023, blew those all out immediately
>new rear springs at friend's garage (thanks to lift)
>had to hunt down factory airbox because the previous owner put some sort of retarded hot air intake on it
>added four-note Cadillac horn for the lulz and the CB has a PA speaker under the hood too

No, but the fuel pump and pressure regulator died on my Highlander after two weeks of owning it. It was a real pain to fix because I had just filled it up and didn't have a way to drain the tank. I ended up siphoning gas from it for over a month into my motorcycle and lawnmower before I could get in there to fix it.

I haven't, but my mother did, so I ended up trying to keep the damn thing alive. 2001 Kia Sportage, needed over the course of 4 years ; spark plugs, oil pump, steering rack, shocks, front control arms, fuel injectors, driver window motor, gauge cluster, and crankshaft. Add on the fact that those parts had to be imported at that time, and we probably spent 10x the price of the car to try and keep it running.

The car I built entirely myself including every piece of wiring between the license plates, keeps killing the ignition coil pack. Completely at random, one lasted less than 1 day, another a few weeks, last one over 6 months. Only pattern is that brand new non-genuine ones last the shortest. Ancient OE ones from the wrecking yard last the longest.

That is all.

Alfa 156 twin turbo.
AC never worked for more than 5 minutes, battery died constantly.

Drifted against the curb so hard with the front right wheel that the axle was royally fucked, miraculously no body damage though.
After it was fixed it was apparently never fixed properly, the tire was somehow rubbing against something so after a semi-long drive you'd literally have the smell of burnt rubber in your nostrils.
Battery kept fucking dying.

Beautiful car but such a piece of shit holy fuck. There's a reason they are virtually extinct now.

No but I had a blessed car.
85 Impala with a Virgin Mary fridge magnet superglued to the dash by the previous owner. Minor problems like the sporadically-nonfunctional windshield wipers just fixed themselves over time. When it was having flywheel problems I could get it to start by praying. Gave it to my cousin on the condition that he never remove that magnet because while neither of us are Catholic, the car certainly is.
The rear left wheel on my tacoma is incredibly cursed, though. It attracts screws and nails like a fucking magnet while the rest have never had a flat tire.

>spray bar links were all Bluetooth
>front driveshaft was missing

>then the drum brakes exploded
>then the transmission lines exploded
>then the trans pan gasket exploded
>spark plugs looked like dug up fossils
>then the windshield seal started leaking
>then the blower motor died
>then the interior dash lights failed
>had to decipher rpo codes to find parts for all of this, did not enjoy the process
>many late nights wrenching on it only to walk in the house and get screamed at because she was bpd (she got a diagnosis after our son was born, rip me)
>beg her for months and months to sell this piece of shit truck, she refuses because according to her she has no persoanlity without it
>eventually she relents, decides to sell it and ends up finally running a vin check for whatever reason
>turns out this piece of shit truck didnt have 150k miles, instead it had 450k and had the odometer replaced or rolled back, but she didnt know this because she elected to buy it on the spot without researching it
>never got an apology for being forced to suffer keeping this piece of shit on the road
eventually i got tired of her bpd shit and told her to move out. we split custody and shes out burning coal now. if nothing else i appreciate she has her own simps to fix her shitty vehicles. good riddance

My mom had a Lincoln Mark VIII for about 6 years. The amount of times she had to have me come over and fix something on that shitheap was unbelievable. I'd estimate it was probably 90% electrical related. Like 15+ plug coil replacements, 4 or 5 door/trunk/window switches, 5 or 6 heal/tail light bulbs, a dead gauge cluster, god knows how many various sensors. 5 or 6 of the air shocks, 2 air shock compressors. I eventually said fuck it and stopped fixing things so she was forced to get rid of it.

Contour aluminum housings are getting harder and harder to find, most are getting replaced with plastic ones, massive speed has an aluminum one with a screw in temp sensor at least, which I also installed. It's very nice having a niche community that's pretty keen on keeping these on the road

The depressing part is that the weather isn't even the main obstacle at this point, I screwed up my back again so even if it was a beautiful 65 degrees outside I don't think I would be able to do anything to it without putting myself in the hospital.

The only thing I did was try to pick a sock up off of a chair but I think the real problem is the shower seat that was installed by ESLs that collapsed out from underneath me, worst mistake I've probably ever made, letting that stupid shower installation company in my house.
They had to reinstall the entire thing three times and shower number two was the one with the seat that collapsed out from under me, left my entire back end purple, ever since I've been having these issues where I just lock up as if some invisible little goblin is jamming a knife into my spine.
I don't know if I would be able to sue them because it's been a few years since it all happened, but I definitely know that I'm not letting anyone inside this building who doesn't at least, at the very least, speak english.

It was really strange, the first two showers were both installed by a group of what I can only assume were immigrants in a beat up white van with some random dude just sitting around who came in a much nicer car. The third time, it was just one dude who showed up and installed the whole shower himself, it's still not perfect, and at this point I just hope they managed to lose money having to redo the entire thing twice.
Still don't have the shower seat we paid for, but at this point, I wouldn't fucking trust the damn thing.
What a scam, really. Taught me a very important lesson, anything that needs done in this house, I should just try to do it myself, there's no possible way I could fuck it up any worse than the so-called professionals.

Of course that doesn't help me right now because the roof is falling apart and I'm sure I'd die if I tried doing any roofing myself, so that's just fucking stellar. Guess it's all worth it to own property???
I could easily hit the character limit writing an essay about all of the minor things that went wrong during the entire process but I guess I'll hold that for the lawyer. If you take anything away from my ranting, just know, none of the shower installation companies are worth it. Just don't. Do it yourself.

My honda became cursed once it hit 166666 km.
>rear brakes seize
>front brakes leak brake oil
>both catalytic converter flanges rust out, replace them and opt not to straight pipe because i know neighbours will complain of the noise
>suspension goes out and needs replacing
>parking brake fails to disengage
>AC went out
>got sideswiped in a hit and run
>when it was ~40 F outside my front windshield decided to crack
>stray cat decided my rear bumper was the purrfect target to scratch
This all occured in the year the car it 166666km, which was last year. At least it was everything but engine/tranny issues, or I would have scrapped the car. I am luckily in a lull and it hasn't caused problems again. Yet.
