The Hemi ate itself in that quarter mile, coasted into the pits and the engine had a complete rebuild before it moved again.
The GT drove itself home.
And BTW, they never hit 300mph with a Chrysler product. The engines have been "Hemi based" for decades, they're 100% aftermarket and nothing is interchangeable with the 426.

Not even what I said. Your haypile is blowing in the wind.

The point is that you're glazing a "Ford GT" for reasons that don't make it a real GT:
>had to be heavily modified from how Ford designed it
>chasing a record that nobody cares about
>needs to very specific conditions to even achieve that record
...What was even the point? Saving face? What it even sanctioned by Ford at all?

its not heavily modified. the entire chassis and body is stock as is the engine block aside from removed side mirrors.
If nobody cared about it VAG wouldn't have spent millions trying to chase it themselves.
the "specific conditions" are a 1 mile airport runway on a dry day.
>What was even the point?
BTFO europe just like the GT40 itself. that arguably is actually what makes a "Ford GT". not seeking validation through staged races.

>its not heavily modified.
They didn't even use the original engine that came with the car. They used 5.4L with revised heads, new cams, new pistons, new rods, and new crank. The only thing that was the same with the factory motor was the block. They removed the blower and went with a TT setup with all that that entails as far as associated plumbing all the way down to the mufflers and control unit. The suspension was custom for that car. It required race tires. Mirrors and wipers were removed. They stripped the interior and removed all lighinting. They also added rollcage and parachute system.

>If nobody cared about it VAG wouldn't have spent millions trying to chase it themselves.
Did they? Nobody seemed to have noticed which shoud've clued you in on how many people care.

>the "specific conditions" are a 1 mile airport runway on a dry day.
You forgot to mention that the road surface must be maintained, the airport isn't actually using it that day, and that you've been cleared too go out there. Even for people that regularly participate, it's hardly a situation they commonly find themselves in. Depending on how many other cars showed up, you maybe get two passes all day.

oh no, the car is like 70% Ford instead of 100%. and the heads are still factory. just "revised".
>The suspension was custom for that car.

>It required race tires. Mirrors and wipers were removed. They stripped the interior and removed all lighinting. They also added rollcage and parachute system.
might as well stop shilling your le mans shit since every race car requires racing tires, gutted interior, and a roll cage full of custom racing equipment. the ecoboost GT is barely "Ford" at all, since multimatic built the car. that 310 MPH Ford GT has more ford parts in it modified than the 2016 one does stock.
>Nobody seemed to have noticed

>You forgot to mention that the road surface must be maintained
so like everything else you need to drive a super car on.
>the airport isn't actually using it that day,
its an abandoned runway used by the texas mile every year. anyone can use it. there are tons of runways like it in america.

all this coping to downplay an achievement that no other car can actually do. le mans and european endurance racing has been a joke after Group C.

If the entire powertrain and gearbox has been replaced, you're already down to ~50% before even doing anything to the chassis.

>and the heads are still factory. just "revised".
The heads were ported and polished. They basically reprofiled the entire air path which was far different from factory. Factory ECU wouldn't be able to run it well.

>proof?
Scott Ahlman at Ahlman Engineering made custom Ohlins setup for the car.

>might as well stop shilling your le mans shit
Nah, the difference is that all the other GT gens were built to be racecars. The streetcars were an afterthought hence why we got the MkIII and the '16 GT debuting as a racecar way before the production streetcar. '05 GT was just boomerbait and ended up being a shitty racecar.

>14 million view video of them attempting 300 mph
Who cares? There's literally a video about a Chiron made of Legos with more views than that.

>its an abandoned runway
Not the one that the GT you're glazing ran on. Victoria Regional Airport still chartered with United. Chase Field that they use now also still charters private flights. You can just roll up in your car and start doing passes whenever you want.

Dude thats literally high school year one autoshop. Swapping out the rotating assembly is as standard as changing to carbon metallic brake pads.

incorrect. the engine block makes up most of the engine, and the fact that they can run so much power through it is a testament of Ford's engines.
>you're already down to ~50%
you underestimate how many components actually go into a car. that isn't even close to 50%.
>OMG THEY PUT COILOVERS!!!
sadly, there's more to suspension than just coils. so it seems like most of the cars suspension is actually factory.
>being a shitty racecar.
apparently not since you're bitching about them adding racing components to beat the world, and the car still needs less racing components to do something no other car can than the ecoshart GT does to do something so many other cars have.
>the difference is that all the other GT gens were built to be in some cucked euro series

Such cope. Stop the pedantry. If it's modified or straight up replaced, it's a modification. Especially if you have to change other things in the car to make it work.

>A modded GT has annihilated every super and hyper car in existence.
Cool. But who cares? It's a modified one-off one-trick pony that didn't have to conform to any federal regulations like every new car sold and it probably isn't legal to register in most counties.

>2 guys in a backyard shed
M2K isn't a shed. They have their own building with multiple maintenance bays and a dynamometer.

>>28480592
>incorrect. the engine block makes up most of the engine.
The block was literally the only thing it has in common with the stock powertrain. And in relation to this car, didn't even use the one that the factory installed in it.

>you underestimate how many components actually go into a car.
Bro, you're the one throwing out arbitrary numbers. At least by my logic, a car is defined in two major components: a chassis and the means by which it gets moving. Because nearly the whole powertrain and drivetrain was replaced, it's already down to about half. What was your logic for your 70%?

> it seems like most of the cars suspension is actually factory.
Wrong. Read the article. They were adjustable Ohlins, not factory. They were needed because the factory suspension would only let them top out at 270mph.

>you're bitching about them adding racing components to beat the world
Another strawman because that's not what I said.

>do something no other car can than the ecoshart GT does to do something so many other cars have.
Again, the '16 GT was built up as a racecar a long time before the steetcar. And was successful in motorsport like all the other GTs. The '05 GT was neither of those things.

>this retard doesn't even know how motorsports work
all of the cars racing are governed by BoP at all times. no car can race without it. they all have weight added to them to keep them at parity. no car is actually pushing the limits of anything.
>class "wins"
lmao
>american endurance races like Sebring or Daytona?
I.E more shit that runs on BoP and has the same regulations as the euro series. manufacturers use spec chassis built by one of only 3-4 specified chassis builders.
>A european car won a cucked european race after the FIA killed Group C to make everything slower
yawn

face it, retard. you still can't comprehend that the 310 MPH record is a technical achievement no other car can actually do, while some faggy 24 hour endurance isn't shit compared to an actual endurance record lasting multiple weeks with a car running at WAT the whole time. come back when you have an argument other than participation trophies.

I want to like modern Corvettes, but they're embarrassing. The Ford GT was instantly cool when it came out.

It's similar to the twin-turbo Viper owner where they're addicted to speed in a suicidal way.
