Still not crashing, no matter what nobikes say
>>28475863is that a touring cbr conversion?
>>28475847With the panniers, it's a genuinely viable daily rider. only issue is the supposed 3.9 gal fuel tank that I can only ever get 3 gallons into and the 40mpg with my right wrist.
Turns out my airport has free longterm motorcycle parking - with a car it'd cost you $200 a week. I parked there last week and I spotted a few bikes with shoei helmets and cardos just rawdogging it on the mirrors. When I landed today those helmets were still there. Wild to think I bothered chaining up my cheap backup LS2 helmet
>>28475853 (OP)Garage bilt choppers anyone
>>28475877Great lil bike. I love the melon transportation solutions.
>>28475863crashing as much as I can
>>28475885adv looks fun but I would die alone in the wilderness
>>28475853 (OP)Hey guys i want to get into motorcycles , im 24 5,8 and overweight whats a good choice harley or japanese cruiser??
>>28475877Also, while top speed is definitely slower than my old Ninja 650 it feels so effortless to get into 100-110mph on the freeway while carrying a bunch of shit. It just werks. I also think this is faster than a bike ~200lbs lighter and with better aero simply due to gearing and quickshifter.
I resisted ADV's and panniers for so long but now I preach.
>>28475885Dropping a T7 would make my heart drop. Can the bike take it? I wish had the balls to ride like you anon.
>>28475863>>28475873Just don't fall off, that's all you gotta do to have fun
You can only pick one and stick with it wich one would it be ?????
Brothers!!!
>>28475891do a 800 calorie deficit until your bmi is 19 and get an SV-650
>>28475891Welcome to /dbt/ Get a Honda rebel 300. Budget for gear as well. I'd nudge you towards a naked bike, cruisers are not as comfortable as they look, they have stiff and short suspension unlike the alternatives.
>>28475891rebel 300 or the 500 if you don't consider yourself the kind of person the regularly does stupid shit and is willing to learn and practice.
>>28475902>>28475908Yamaha virago 250 mogs them with fewer ccs
>>28475900I'm still in awe as to how they get so little out of so much displacement.
>>28475903ask for the vin
>>28475910good luck finding one.
Few were imported into the us, and even fewer still survive.
>>28475914yah, it's probably someone's sweetheart that got abducted and now has her organs for sale. Fucking scavs.
>>28475900Big twin evo for sure.
But theres nothing like riding a shovelhead
>>28475891Suzuki Intruder, Victory Vegas/hammer, 2nd gen Yamaha virago, Honda Rebels or shadows are dope, but the Honda Magna is superior imo.
Lots of Harleys to pick from, but the actual cool stuff is unobtainium.
>>28475900for me its the shovelhead, apprently it can have the lowest idle speed of all and allows you appreciate every single exhaust pulse. this would go nicely with my current 'ku which has the highest redline of all time. 17,000rpm. yamaha.
>>28475900Evo. You can build a brand new engine out of all the aftermarket (or just buy a crate motor). They're dead reliable to boot. Evo sportsters will probably outlive Harley corporate at this rate.
>>2847591350% of the displacement is reserved for noise making
>>28475921None of these are entry level bikes, let him start on a rebel 300.
>>28475924https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOEVsNAeVs4
>>28475921>750 v4Let anons enjoy the cc progression
>>28475926Evo til this day are the most affordable Harley Davidson , the best bang for your buck the best for aftermarket parts.
I dont understand why old boomers or harleyfags keep buying new motorcycles
Posted in old thread accidentally. Thanks to anon yesterday for the tip about pressing the rear brake to trigger the brake light. It's a lot easier than trying to squeeze the front brake, which only links to the light when it's pressed with a good amount of force.
Only issue is I'm sure a distracted driver won't notice the back light getting brighter, so uh, there's that.
Also, I have a rear drum brake and now I'm looking up how long they last. That'll be fun trying to find a replacement for one day.
>>28475885Lol holy crap, looped that bitch out. Have to keep those elbows up, keep 'em bent
Honda should bring back vtwims and round headlights. Why won't Honda give me what I want? Stupid Honda.
>>28475890I don't know how it hasn't happened to me already
>>28475900Knuckle heads and pan heads , are taxed to boomer oblivion
Look at how cool it looks.
>>28475944would you buy a kit the converts modern Hondas to dual round sealed beams?

Fuck homda.

>>28475885Damn, you good bro? That looked like it hurt bad
>>28475957Now it looks like the triump bug bike. Simple bike yes I could never do this to a fireblade. I'd do this to Transalp, that one's from looks like ass.

Yall ever just rip down the street in your lawnmower powered piece of shit
>>28476005sure, I had a mini bike when I was a little kid.
>>28475992Shit, I gotta lose weight. How the fuck do you not have hair on your legs? And you gf likes this?
>>28476005Why aren't these legal to ride? They're basically as safe as bicycles.

>>28476010My dad is the same way, I have hair but itโs very thin and hard to see without the right lighting
>and your gf likes this?I think thatโs my main draw with her, she seems to have a type. I donโt mind tho, as long as sheโs okay with my motorcycle obsession

I saw a guy on a very clearly new to him CBR650R today, taking corners slowly and going below the speed limit up a hill. It's a VERY pretty bike in person. I hope he learns to trust it, it looks fun.
>>28475885Sir you might want a 300cc dirt bike
>>28476076>CBR650RThe Honder will take care of him.

>>28476053Cool, don't watch it
Great news! Or maybe not. My sister is a flippant bitch.
A month ago I posted about my brother-in-law who's forced to ride a Ryker. Well, my niece is at the age where she's taken an interest in 2 wheels and my sister said it's ok to get her a little dirt bike. My brother-in-law said he should get something he could ride with her, she said ok, and he said he might as well get a dual-sport instead of a regular dirt bike. She the asked me about the smallest ones, I didn't know it would be for him, and I told her about the XR150 and TW200. Little while later I heard she was A-OK with those models. Not much, but it looks like he might actually be off the trike.
>>28475501Based, not one but two V7 Sports is crazy. It's a 78 V50 that I picked up for $500. I also have an 83 Le Mans III that I am in the early stages of restoring, currently stripping the frame for paint. Both of them are flood bikes, the LM3 was a lot worse though, and been off the road nearly a decade. Would like to get in touch and talk more about tractors that cosplay as sport bikes.
>>28476100Why won't my sister give me niece or nephew? Nobody is having kids these days. I'm not married yet so that something. So anon, are you getting a small bike to ride with your niece?
>>28475863Based, I've never crashed or dropped my road bike in my 8 years and ~100,000km of riding.
>>28475885I have crashed a lot off road though.
>>28476100Ngl you're brother in law sounds like a total bitch. I get safety concerns and all that, but if you're already on a ryker and are already getting on two wheels then c'mon, you can't let other people make decisions for you like that
>thanks for reading my blog, please like and subscribe for more life hacks
You all say SV is a good bike but you also say you'd rather buy an XSR700.
Explain
>>28476157You asked about the SV650X which was rare and discontinued. A regular SV650 is an easier pick over the XSR.
>>28476170Why? They're basically the same bike, XSR is just marginally more powerful/marginally improved brakes and suspension, especially compared to an older SV.
>>28476174The Suzuki looks better, has a way bigger aftermarket, and hilariously for something that hasn't been updated in like 15 years has a more readable LCD.
>>28476179To each their own on looks. Never cared for the SV650's tank and frame. Agreed on the cluster.
>>28476170https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pYt-GYngp0
>>28476185white looks good
>>28476185Not present on the Suzuki US website. Neither is the Katana.
>>28476157Never, vtwims over ptwin and sv650 has the steel trellis frame look which is much better.
>>28476189Why don't we get the katana? I'd buy one now that I have some money.
>>28476209Suzuki finds it more profitable to sell dirtbikes, four wheelers, jetskis, and outboard motors in the US. Niche street bikes are way, way down the list, so we don't get some of them.
>>28476157I rather get SV because we don't have the uncucked version in my hellhole.
Plus Vtwin is better for filtering
>>28476222Is the VTwin worship, ptwin seethe pure manlet cope? Do you guys REALLY need the extra narrow seat/frame? Filtering is limited by bars or bags, you absolute fucking retard, not frame width.
>>28476224It feels more fun. I don't need a better justification.
>>28476224Hey Mr Salesman, hard day at office and need to move some old stock?
>>28476232>>28476229You're both idiots if you think the width of the bars is influenced by the width of the frame/engine.
>>28476237I wasn't even talking about bar width, I just like V engines and boxer engines better than ptwins. But now that you mention it, you can make an SV650 pretty narrow with aftermarket bars and mirrors. This was what Yamaha had to invent the R7 to beat.
>>28476246I would love a boxer 500 bobber as fuck about bike.
>>28476157Big dick vtween
>>28476253Moto Goofy V7 gets pretty close, transverse V twin.
>>28476246>Retard thinks Yamaha doesn't use standard bar diameters
>>28476264>ESL nigger doesn't understand width vs. diameter of a handlebar
My old man might be selling his pos 2017 hyosung rgt that his dropped twice, can't drive it much anymore cause his body is falling apart. I've never really been a bike person, more a car guy. Would this be a bad 1st bike?
My old man might be selling his pos 2017 hyosung rgt (pic) that his dropped twice, can't drive it much anymore cause his body is falling apart. I've never really been a bike person, more a car guy. Would this be a good or bad 1st bike?
>>28476265>Retard ESL accuses me of being an ESL because he's too fucking retarded to know that pretty much every jap and euro bike use either 7/8" or 1-1/8" bars
>>28476270>250Yeah you're good, if you're a taller anon your gonna curse the sport bike-ish ergonomics but the engine should be small enough not to cause you too much trouble.
>>28476272>he still doesn't get it
>>28476270Koreans should build big bikes.
>>28476274Thanks. A question, how long do bike motors last in general? he didn't change the oil at one point for nearly 3-4 years (covid + his a lazy pos) while still doing minimal riding and only changed it sometime last year. I need to check the km on it still.
>>28476287Depends on the brand. Just change the oil, bleed the brakes and start riding anon. If possible drain the old gas and put new gas in.
>>28476287Depends a lot on engine, high stress and high performance engines can last 60-80k km before going boom.
But street bike engines are usually are good for >140k km, depending on how well it was maintained.
>>28476295And 30k km for GayTMs
>>28476292>>28476295Thanks guys. It hasn't sat for that many years he drove it during that period and recently too so gas/brakes should be fine but if I do purchase it then I'll get that shit sorted.
>>28476270Its a vtwin? Based Hyosung. But it's not much better than CBR250R which is disappointing.
>>28475937They can afford them easily and like the features and additional power. Motorcycles are toys after all and the more rich people buy them the more for the used market.
I find them overly complex and annoying to work on vs Evo and "Evo style S&S etc" but they can still be stripped down like anybike and bobbed or chopped.
>>28475924>apprently it can have the lowest idle speed of all and allows you appreciate every single exhaust pulseI appreciate sufficient oil flow more because engines are getting expensive to work on. Idling at low RPM does nothing good to lubricate and help cool a stationary Shovelhead (I've '78 and '82). I either idle fast or shut down.
I've never previously heard it asserted Shovels could idle at the lowest RPM of any which makes no mechanical sense given the design commonality from Knuckles through Evo big twins.
If you like cool Shovel tricks they're easy to "kickstart" by hand when warmed up and properly timed. Works for any stock compression ratio Evo and prior if the ignition is set up for kicking (
Just pulled this critter out of the grave. There's a quarter size hole in the transmission case from the chain snapping so it was running when put away. I managed to get it to turn over but haven't tried to start it yet. Oh and there's no key for the fuel cap which is required to open it. Starting to think I'm in over my head.
>>28476258I would love that bike if where I lived had roads without pot holes as deep and wide as the wheels, and if the retards of my city could do more than 40kph.
>>28476359> Starting to think I'm in over my head.Yeah you are, but get the service manual and give that bike the care it deserves.
Nothing worse than a machine rotting in a shed.
>>28476359An old air cooled dirt bike is not that big of a money pit.
transmission case will be the biggest expense.
Fuel caps are easy to get off and replace, if you want you can replace the fuel tank if your like fuck it.
It turned over which is good it means all the bits inside are free to move.
Reminder, if it's not NIB (new in box) you do NOT pay full price.

>>28476415Now you're trying too hard
>>28476417I'm not trying at all you rascal

>>28476426It'll be a dressed up cb750. Suzuki can't do that even, or sv already is, I guess.
Which do we think is more fun for 50-100mph curvy road riding?
>Litrebike (any 1000)
>Hyperbike (zx14, hayabusa)

>>28476472Mt looks disgusting.
>>28476492Both look awful, like bug machines. SV all the way.
/dbt/ sister, when does a motorcycle get too heavy for being a daily driver in the city? I know for sure that bikes like the z400 are light enough to be ridden comfortably inside a big city, but what about a middle weight bike like a mt-07, do they start to get too heavy for start and stop city traffic?
>>28475873You meet the _______ people on a Honda
>>28476560if its built by HD
weight doesn't tell the full story, its how low the center of gravity, lean angel and wheel base is.
I daily my VFR800 without issues at 240kg. Also love the NC750S for city riding due to extremely low COG, even though its also a 220kg bike.
"middle weight" bikes are no issues.
>>28476560You can town centre one of pic. Stay upright and plan your route.
If you're going to be all never fallen off learner then you should probably stay small.
>>28476560are you retarded? Do you want to push-start your bike at every light or what? Just use the fucking clutch to get going you smoothbrain.
>>28476560Iโm not sure there is a bike too heavy to daily in the city, I know a couple guys in NYC who daily bat wing tourers, obviously the whole NYPD motorcycle fleet used to be entirely road kings, back when I was a youth. Just ride
>>28476599>are you retarded? Do you want to push-start your bike at every light or what?I live in Madrid, here we don't have giant parking lots like in america and bikes are parked on the sidewalk. Sometimes you have to park between other bikes, sometimes you have to reverse it because there's a fence or something blocking the exist. I was just wondering when does a bike became too heavy to push it around in those situations.
>>28475891turbo busa is the only starter bike anyone should ever get
>>28476560people daily ride cruisers and stuff like Gold Wings, is there such a thing as too heavy for a daily rider?
Pick the best baek from this list.
>>28476609Walk one around a dealership, you'll soon find out where your limits are.
>>28476609Depends more on you than the bike desu, but croozers and heavy adv's are just going to be a challenge all to their own. You can literally pick up a dual sport and swing it around if you wanted to, and full lock is almost perpendicular.
>>28475891How overweight?
This also answers how heavy a town bike.
>>28476617I donโt speak moon runes

>>28476630There is a to do guide from decades ago that is basically How to pick up a Goldwing For Girls (Rowena Hoseason maybe) that explains how physics and a bit of thinking can get you un-stuck at the worst of times.
That Einstein lever Earth thing but for bikers.

>>28476643Quite chunky then. 160 overweightness here.

>>28476659>>28476445I agree with this guy, a sportster is some of the most fun you can have at road legal speeds

My daily commute is about 6 miles, a mile of that is leaving my burbs with two 15 degree turns, two big hills, followed by a long stretch thats mostly soft curves. From there its 5 miles of straight highway with about 3 stoplights. What could I have fun riding daily for this commute?
>>28476677Well the alternative is entry level sport bikes that can comfortably do minimal hwy speeds. Or scramblers. Honestly its just that top end stuff jfor sport bikes aren't very good on regular roads or very fun. If you already planned on spending a lot then a cruiser or tourer is just better for it. It just isn't fun having something thats heavy that you can't really push because of road limitations and lack of road maintenance.
>>28476697This, I did it on my suzuki 125 scoot, it was lot of fun. The only issue was its rear suspension or riding posture is shit and it gave me ass pain.
>>28476703Pic. Everyone will know where you are with in half a mile and most won't be upset.
>>28476677>ride a super sport >want to be in the upper rev range to enjoy all that torque >oops already 15 over the limit Getting pulled over by the cops isnโt fun, tickets arent fun, Somalian in an F250 pulled out in front of you bc he could t judge your speed and you were faster than the rest of traffic isnโt fun
>>28476706is that a triple exhaust? Why?
>>28476711I would wager there are three cylinders
>>28476703grom with the 250cc cbr engine.
>>28476703SV650, imo most bikes will be fun. Just get the most comfortable bike. Get a GS even, that should be able to do it in style, loads of fun and reach in comfort.
>>28476707RC30 will break any limit in first.
My car (has car) will exceed the limit in third at idle.
As they say It's more fun to ride something slow fast than a fast thing slow.
>>28476707>50-100mphI don't think this anon cares about speeding tickets
>>28476704The VFR is geared pretty well for that. You can crooze in 6th at low RPM on the highway but the fun parts of the tach are accessible in lower gears.
>>2847672485 is speed of traffic in the left, 100 is barely speeding
>>28476744Maybe for people in texas, idaho, and cali but on average over 90mph in the US the limit is 75mph max and over 90 is not even a speed you can talk down in court for a lower violation. Ive had friends lose both bikes and cars to crushers in traffic violations but usually it is for 80 on a 55 and 65+ in a school zone. You can't get out of those.
>>28476704>>28476707>what sportbikes are nice for riding fast paced curvy roads>I donโt like speeding in canyonsNo one asked
>>28476744>Twisty roadsIlliterate or just retarded?
>>28476758You want yo push yourself on a bike you financed thats your own choice but personally a mid weight or entry level is fun cause you can wreck and replace it.
>>28476757>65+ in a school zoneNo way that speed. I have done 100mph+ in one but it was early and I was late.
>>28476761Iโm retarded, thanks
It was 90 degrees at 8:00am on my commute this morning, just rode to get lunch at 96 degrees, forecast at 100 degrees for my commute home, I am going to arrive at my home crispy
>>28475948They will remain that way because if every boomer were swallowed by the earth there are far more customers with money than there are old HDs. That's also why swap meets get cleaned out because there are only so many old parts to go around.

Is it cheaper to source a Wide Glide front end 2nd hand or just buy new and bolt it on?
Found a front end for like 500 bucks and brand new they tend to run 7-800, just dunno if it'd need a rebuild kit

>>28476843>British Columbia
>>28476909>he doesn't want to deal with the dmv for full endorsementWhy is this a problem for people? Sure, when I was young I rode dirty for a time, but I just went and took the test after a final because I realized I needed to get it done. I was also only riding shit bikes I bought for $300 to get back and forth from my apartment to campus. I don't get people that buy nice or new bikes, but don't take the time to get the piece of paper.

>>28477058>he feels up his m8s.
It's been two weeks since they told me they ordered the parts to fixe my bike. What the fuck is taking so long.
>>28477061So interesting story.
A Harley tech told me back in the 90's there was a class about boring out the jugs on Evos to make them larger displacement.
The Twin Cam pissed off a lot of old guys because all of the parts are bolt on.
A lot of old timers left over it.
M8 went back to single cam but the parts are still all bolt on.
M8 is actually a powerful and fast engine though.
Late model Twin Cams are also very solid and powerful.

Speaking of going fast, bros my chain is cooked from luggages and long distance shooming, i think i might have to break a few links off and i do NOT hqve any of the neccessary tools, wtf should i do bros? Go buy a lugnut wrench, tighten what i do got, and hope for the best?
>>28477056Wait, what is that thing at the bottom right?
Looks amazing.
>>28477074I wish they would bring back the overbuilt 5 speeds and put them with newer motors, ever sincr mr.harleyboomer lent me his 25 years experience fixing and wrenching all twins and v4s including hondas, he sold me the idea that these trannies dont 41% themselves because of simplistic gearing and bearing design, whereas the 6speed took all things wrong from automotives and applied their problems to the 2wheeler world
Classic example of zoomer/millenial engineering r&d not knowing what the fuck theyre doing in practice but larping in principle
Otherwise i wonder if there are aftermarket 5speed designs out there that are indestructible, even if it wasnt neccessarily a 5 but had all the right parts addressing those issues
I forgrt the part name but whereas the 5 speed ia all linear gearing iirc the 6 is more like a car and that plus cheap bearings resulted in all these issues
Sometimes i wish i had recorded that conversation into a mp3 file for reference or knew a book to reference these things so i could accurately spell it out for my esl bros on dbt
>>28477188I'm gonna ride out to your place this weekend Wayne. prepare yourself.

>>28477273>every single bike is a cp2yea im thinking your poll might not be accurate. kawasaki has a engine for every class, including 250cc 4 cylinder class. yamaha has nothing.
>>28477291Kawi's dirtbikes aren't as good/diverse as Yamaha's. They've never really made a WR450 competitor that was worth a damn. I wish Yamaha would make a Versys competitor with the CP4 but I think they sunk so much money into the Niken that just iterating the Tracer 9 is their main sport touring effort going forward.
>>28477296>Tracer 9aka r9 with knobbies
>>28477226Delusional. Offer low threes, pay no more than 3800.
>>28477298The Tracer 9 is a pavement bike, dumbass. 17" wheels all around. The Teneres are Yamaha's ADV bikes.
>>28477301its also a race replica if you install clip ons kek
>>28477306Nobody here has ever claimed the fucking tracer 9, the huge tall upright sport tourer with a gargantuan fuel tank and factory bags, is a race replica. Kill yourself if you're only going to be conversing in bad faith.
>>28477318See, now you're at least being honest.
>>28477056we might get the hunter cub in Europe soon, I'm considering buying it
>>28477296>diverseThe only dirtbikes that matter are R models.
>>28477318You don't even need to say it Yamaha does it to themselves
>>28477365they make fine guitars
I kinda want the 2025 tracer 9 gt plus but yamaha is now only selling the base version this year. Also my 23 CB500x with over 24,000 miles has alot of upgrades already. It's only missing more power, better chassis and the tech on the gt plus. I guess I'll wait another year or two when I REALLY outgrow this bike.
>>28477396You should consider a Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+/GX+ if you want a bigger sport tourer. More power, legendary engine, better tech.
>>28477396I heard about that too. What I would do is buy a 2024 GT or GT+ if you're fancy. Just get a used one with low milage.
