EVs are the future. The ICE pollutes cities and is stagnated technology. EVs get massively better on a yearly basis and don't cause lung cancer from emissions. Range is their final flaw and even that is improved gradually with a paradigm shift in 2026-2027 with less dependancy on minerals such as cobolt. In just 10 years EVs have come longer than 50 years of ICE development. In fact a lot of combustion engines today are worse than those of 20 years ago.

I don't even like Tesla but they did kick start a stagnated automobile industry resting on its laurels. I think the western car makers got too comfortable ripping people off with their ever shittier and more expensive ICE cars. The kick in the balls was needed to bring evolution back.

Sure bud. We've burned hundreds of billions of dollars of our industries' money over this shit for nothing, just so China can take the market selling overweight golf carts.

It's about time the industry did some investments into R&D. And don't blame this on China. Blame it on a greedy western car industry that stopped innovating and relied entirely on gradual low effort facelifts of their 90's models with huge price increases. Blame it on greedy mechanics charging hundreds just for basic oil service and maintenance. Blame it on the petrol industry that during covid bankrupted households.

Chinese cars are still a non-factor in the western part of the world. People want to buy a brand they know but the incentives for doing so are low.

The crash was coming. Tesla was merely the catalyst. If it wasn't Tesla, another start up would have invested similarly in alterntive energy source and tech integration.

I look at the recent line-up for BMW and Mercedes and sadly I still get the impression these cars exist solely for Eastern European drug dealers and luxury hookers.

Be grateful Tesla is a western company. The Chinese still lag behind in key areas. Hell even the Gen 3 Nissan Leaf is looking to outdo the Chinese competitors. The Chinese brands are overhyped.

Chinese aren't a "brand". Chinese EVs are an industry. A one that government mandated as they banned all gas cars from being driven inside the city. Any new gas cars has huge fees they have to pay.

I still wonder how many of these chinese EV companies will be around in 10 years. Would hate to get a car and then the company disappears. Don't ever want to buy a car from a brand without any staying power. Not that ching chong cars will be allowed in the US for a long time.
Anonymous No.28477950

And that's in China only. That ban is understandable given the toxic waste of smog shit in their city air. Maybe the Chinese can start see the sun again in a few years?

>>28477880
A lot of them. The Chinese car industry is extremely volatile. Even BYD is struggling to make a dent abroad amidst big tariffs and weird design choices. There is a price war in China right now with the sole purpose to weed out the competition. I think they will in a few years go back to being mainly battery providers for foreign EVs. BYD and maybe Nio will remain.

We'll never be able to figure this out, its just too complicated....
