Now that I repaired my oil burning issue on my 1999 Corolla 270,000 miles, please help me find what's wrong with it. The thing shakes at idle, and sometimes almost stalls when going from idle. I'm thinking fuel pump, but i can't tell. It feels a bit more reluctant to start, requiring more cranks. At higher speeds i feel nothing, except perhaps a bit low on power. There's no codes, nothing. Also it's technically a Chevy Prizm. Pls halp, what do i check before parts cannoning the fuel pump?

I got one that was ~70 dollars and it was megachinkshit, would essentially instantly turn off when power was disconncted. Turns out the 10k good reviews were mostly botted as I went back later and there were a lot less. I haven't bought a second one yet but I'd buy one that an actual real reviewer has reviewed, even if it's a little more money. I know techmoan has some dashcam reviews from a few years ago.

Going thru clutch hydraulic hell on an FA (8th gen) Civic.

Replaced master and slave with Exedy at 186k. Taiwan made. Brand I thought I could trust. 3 months and 5k miles later the clutch actuation point has moved and I found air in the system which was previously bled. Fucking seals must be going. Fluid's dark now too.

My pops went thru a MC every 10k miles on his Element before ditching the car. The Civic is a nightmare to change the MC on so I hope not to do that many replacements.

Can't find any info on what fluid Exedy wants me to use. Honda says DOT3. Can't find any evidence if the $200 Nissin OEM MC is worth it over the $50 Exedy.

Can't find good info on how to adjust all the adjustments. Should the MC rod be allowed to extend fully? Or should the pedal-stop stop it just shy of full extension? Seems to me the MC should fully extend so it's not putting any pressure on the slave/pressure plate. But online some guys say to stop it short of extension.

To add insult to injury the fucking clutch pedal clicks each time it's pressed and it seems like it's coming from the master. It stopped for about a day after changing the MC.

Some say the OEM design is bad and to backdate to the previous gen civic master. Then, the line needs changed to fit as well. But then you rely on low quality forum comments from Spanish teenagers in 2011 to tell you how to adjust the mod parts to work.

The fuck happened to parts that just fucking work. I guess I have to just bite the bullet on an OEM for $200? And eat shit when that too fails in a year? Gotta replace the slave every time too, right?

To be fair when I replaced the OEM master/slave at 186k, it was just the slave that had failed. Really just selling myself on the OEM cylinder at this point.

Literally any sort of brake fluid or hydraulic fluid or whatever. Hell, even ATF or 0w20 would do if you were stranded in a desert. It's not exposed to extreme heat so none of the things that matter for brakes matter for your clutch.

It should bottom out externally, not internally. If that's putting a static load on the on the clutch fork you need to adjust your slave cylinder.

If you're really sure you've got a problem with your components and it's not just poorly bled, replace the master, slave, lines, and hose clamps. If you still have problems it's user error.

Found a 2011 Cayman PDK at a dealer in Germany
Grey, Japan import, 140k km

Took it for a test drive a couple of days ago
Surprisingly tight for the mileage
Interior well kept, newer gen steering wheel already installed
New tires, fresh brakes, super clean in and out

Ticked a bit on cold start, sounded like lifters
Dealer said it's normal when it doesn't run for a while
Noise disappeared completely after driving
Didnโ€™t sound like something to freak out over

Service history fully stamped, but all in Japanese
Didnโ€™t have time to translate everything
Auction sheet was a 4.0/B, only minor scratches listed

Paint thickness everywhere was around 200ฮผm
A bit high, but it was consistent

Plan to use it as a daily (I work remote so low mileage)
Still slightly paranoid Iโ€™ll get burned with a big repair

Do i need to replace the whole tappet cover the gasket is leaking and i've got oil in a single coil pack tube?
Every where is saying to replace the whole cover but so long as the inner o rings are healthing on the cover i should be alright with just the outer gasket, right?

>details
Had some ignition issues with my G35, got it diagnosed and also had a leaking tappet gasket, checked my coil pack and all are dry and healthy resistent except 6th, which was covered in oil and barely in resistance range.
talked with the mechanic that diagnosed it and he said that only the gasket should need replacing since it's would just be dry and old so it's lifting a bit allowing a bit of oil into the coil tube, but everywhere else is saying replace the whole cover.

If you're removing the cover and those seals are old and hard, you're best to replace them anyway, especially if you're keeping the car for a fair length of time. If you'd be selling it within a year, then I wouldn't worry. That being said, I don't see any reason to replace the whole valve cover if it isn't warped.

It shouldn't be a big deal. When you get the A/C fixed then do the learning procedure again...

Are extended warranties really that bad? I see so many differing opinions on this. Looking at getting a used 2020 luxury sedan with about 40k miles on it. About $3k for 100k mi/5 yr warranty. I want to take good care of this car and have it around at least 10 years if not 20+ if I can.

Especially with a luxury car with all sorts of functions and doodads would an exclusionary warranty be a good idea? Water pump issue is a thousand, door handle issue is a thousand, etc

There are few motorsports left that haven't been enshittified by hybrids or other gay shit.

Thankfully BTCC got rid of their hybrid retardation, but they kept the stupid "push button to overtake" thing, which only serves to neutralise any skill advantage or multi lap battle, and also they re-introduced the tyre choice aspect, which just amounts to "bad tyre/good tyre, you lose if you have to use the bad tyre this race".

I was excited to see WRC ditch the hybrid too, except this year the ITV coverage suddenly changed from excellent to completely unwatchable. I cannot hear the cars over their shit music, and there's no summary/story of the day anymore - just spliced out of context clips of a full broadcast we don't get.

Goodwood revival and members meeting are both great, but only once a year.

F1 is tolerable, but I watch that hoping for a crash while thinking about how the cars used to sound and how they used to jump over Flugplatz at the Nurburgring Nordschliefe in the '60s.

It's why one cannot give a straight answer as to the horsepower of a steam locomotive, as its direct drive means its power increases with speed, but one cannot practically exert the theoretical maximum force once at speed for mechanical reasons I shan't go into.

Nothing looks out of the ordinary here. Coolant level in the reservoir can change substantially depending on how warm the engine is, usually a BMW will be losing coolant not gaining it lol. Coolant looks a bit dilute though, kinda hard to tell from photographs. Chain stretch will usually manifest as a rattling noise on cold start, loss of power, should throw a "cam-crank correlation" code of some kind long before it causes physical damage.

My worry about the timing chain was wether the mechanic that did valve cover seals recently actually placed it back properly or not. He said it would need an inspection(easy deal since the top of the engine was opened for the seals) since those engines stretch it easily but it was fine.
What else could be behind those pieces on the oil cap then? The white part on the top of the coolant is what makes you think it's a bit dilluted? I assume it would be a good idea to put new one in, especially during summer when its hot?

No, but it's a good idea, especially if it's an old gasket. Better to do it right the first time instead of doing the job twice IMO - just don't cheap out on the gasket.

>My worry about the timing chain was wether the mechanic that did valve cover seals recently actually placed it back properly or not.
If he just did the valve cover seals then he wouldn't have touched the timing chain, you only take that off if you're doing a cylinder head or a similarly major engine repair.

>What else could be behind those pieces on the oil cap then?
Hard to say, it just looks like tiny bubbles in the photo, could be anything or it could be nothing. Are they actual physical particles, did you touch them or collect samples of them?

>The white part on the top of the coolant is what makes you think it's a bit dilluted?
The white part (circled in red) is just the float, it's what raises the coolant dipstick depending on the level. The actual coolant (circled in green) doesn't look very strong to me, but again it's hard to say just from a photo.

Sounds like the float arm has gotten stuck at the low mark, maybe it's a bit rusty and seized there after being run low on gas too often, maybe it's just worn out. Hell, I've seen a fuel sender where the lever just straight up fell off one time.
>but a high input problem makes no sense in this context.
Depends on how it operates - some senders are high resistance with an empty tank and the resistance reduces as the float goes up, some work the opposite way. High input could also mean it's an open circuit, which would make sense if the sender has packed up completely. Low input typically means a short circuit, for example. Either way I'd be checking the sender with an ohmmeter if you can access it.

Generally speaking, the newer and smaller the car, the worse the access.
>impossible angles you're expected to fit a wrench into to unscrew things
See above, and also blame engineers.
>you need old-man dad hand strength to unscrew anything
You are weak or aren't using the right tool. Get swol or use a tool that gives you more mechanical advantage (be that a longer handle or an impact wrench)
>get completely fucking filthy in the process
Such is the nature of working on stuff that both lives outside in all weathers, and contains fluid.
>Why can't they be as easy as putting together my computer?
Because computers stay indoors and aren't 14 feet long. They also don't experience any mechanical stress sitting still, and as such don't need shit torqued down to prevent things from falling off or coming loose, they're perfectly adequate just having clip in connectors and tiny screws.

Find a used hoist and stand and then sell them on when you're done with them. Even if you take a loss it won't be more than the rental would have cost you if it's more than a week before that engine goes in a vehicle, and it sure looks like it will be.

If it was stuck in one spot it shouldn't throw a CEL, yeah. If it's broken contact, fallen off, or failed in some other weird way that goes outside of the max/min expected resistance, that would log a code.

Is the wiring plug easy to get at without dropping the tank? Could just check the resistance manually and see what it's doing.

Very stupid if you have no idea what you're doing, as you'll no doubt have many more problems than just a fuel pump, chief among which being If fluids were left in the car when it was parked (extremely likely). I'd recommend flushing the various systems several times before trying to start it, as trying to crank it over with 25 year old congealed sludge and grime in your oil, coolant, and fuel system will no doubt cause you some very expensive issues down the road.

Otherwise, consider anything made of rubber to be suspect - suspension bushes, tires, brake hoses, etc. You'll probably find the coolant will need a thorough flush, and if you're lucky the brakes or clutch system won't be seized. Lastly, you'd better hope the fuel tank isn't full of rust and/or varnish.

You'll learn a lot from getting it roadworthy, at least - just make sure you budget accordingly (money, tools, time, your mate's time when something inevitably becomes a two-man job, beer, more time, more money) and it should be a worthwhile project.

Does the P0000 "No trouble codes set" OBD message mean that the earlier message is now fixed and I can reset it?
I have an SLK R171, which I've had some issues with the secondary air pump with. Previously it was fixed by replacing the fuse acc. the workshop.
Yesterday I got a check engine light again, and checked with AndrODB. That showed P0410 again with a little clock image. This time I just pushed the fuse in a bit better to hopefully fix it myself. The little icon in AndrODB also changed from a clock to this guy with a flag on the P0410 and the P0000 now appeared, but the check engine light is still on. Do I need to clear it myself, or is it still fucked and is that why the check engine light is still on?
I think I heard the pump running as well, but it's difficult to distinguish so I can't be sure about that.

It's seemingly impossible to find one that's different from the rest of them. I'm looking for
>4k 60fps
>dual card slots
>The screen does not piggyback the main front camera (so I can put it somewhere else)
First seems common now, I can't find anything with dual card slots. Last is probably just a nitpick because I want to place the screen to the left side of my windshield, instead of sitting in the middle of my windshield (LHD)
More expensive units just seem to add more cameras and other useless things instead.

I'm in the process of rebuilding the motor in my shitbox 94 corolla daily. Since I have the trans off I'm going to be replacing the clutch, too. My question is, should I do a slight upgrade on the clutch? I've always noticed that mine fades pretty much immediately after going from stationary to 1st gear. Clutch upgrade in question is still organic clutch material, so I'm guessing it won't be much more aggressive. I just wanna get rid of the fading I experienced.

I also have a pretty fucked flywheel that I'm replacing, it got bad about 7 years ago when I was retarded and drove on a bad clutch for too long. So maybe that was the cause of the fading, idk.

>go to mechanic, they check it say it's fine
>go to auto electrician, they check it and the car's wiring and say it's fine
>battery also fine
>no light flashing since (1 week ago)
Is there anything I can really do in this situation besides just assume it's fine? Is there anyway the alternator could be fucked but have it NOT show up on any diagnostics tests? Or is it possible that getting it tested alone has somehow fixed it?
While I'll obviously be happy if it is actually working 100% now, I'm just paranoid about going on a longer drive and having it fail on me like the previous one did.

I've been digging further and seems like Blackvue and Thinkware for non-screen. Alpine has one that's 1080p but the psychos want $500 for it.
I'm leaning toward Viofo A329S. Seems new and I technically get dual storage. But if I wanted my own surveillance state in my car, a third camera drops the 4k to 30fps.

Otherwise the main thing to watch out for is to avoid any with built-in batteries since these sit in the sun and batteries don't enjoy that.

if youโ€™re not picky, you can get any car any time of the year. lease deals on something disposable like a chevy trax or kia soul should be in the range of $200 a month with a couple thousand down. now through september is the right time to buy if youre interested in a MY25 vehicle, as theyll want to get rid of them as MY26s come in and may offer better deals. but non-promo financing is still gonna run you 6-7% if you have perfect credit.
id recommend keeping an eye on the deals your local dealerships might have available.

i personally donโ€™t like buying warranties, because its often a hassle to get the dealer/oem/third party to pay out, and i often find that i dont use them. i guess youd have to decide if <year make model> has <common expensive issue> and if that issue costs more than the $3k warranty. then you can justify your purchase

with time and money, anything is possible. but this would probably require a lot of custom fabrication to have the ST trans mount properly into a transit. not to mention that youd have to rig up a clutch pedal, probably retune the engine, and upgrade the flywheel/output shaft, among other things im probably missing. modern cars make this a lot more difficult than older cars.

I'm having trouble figuring out what hardware pieces I need though besides new Front Strut Lower Bolts and Front Strut Lower Lock Nuts that attach the strut assembly to the steering knuckle.

I think the kit in the picture comes with everything I need besides those two?

That's normal usage, you don't have to baby the clutch so much, it's supposed to get worn. If you really wanna know what it feels/smells/sounds like to fuck up the clutch depress the clutch pedal completely, depress the gas pedal as far as you can without overreving the engine, and then lift the clutch to the bite point.

>transit connect manual swap
I've actually been reading on the subject quite a bit, literally looking at used focus sts to buy
>same platform, no fabricating
>everything fits, even the st upgraded shocks
>vehicle weights are almost identical
>transit has a hole in the firewall and bolts for clutch pedal and routing for cables
>believe drive shafts need to be different only
So basically, no existing PCM exists for a straight fiesta manual swap and nobody has done the customizing to make it work. The upside is the very common 2.0 st motor drops right in. Considering a used st and just work on the motor until my transmission dies. Basically I hate trucks and run a business but can't buy a new transit connect anymore...

you can definitely fix it at home. not a lost cause at all.
just drill out the bolt. once it's out you can either get a nut and a washer on the other side of it (and use a longer bolt obv) if you can access the other side (possibly cut a hole in the floor pan to access)
if you can't access the other side install a rivnut, it expands outward and becomes a captive nut.

Probably. I've had the same idea, and assuming you have the skills and tools to do it, here are the considerations that have been stopping me:
>How much time do you plan to spend on finding buyers vs building cars?
>If you're building DIY frames, how big do you think the market for DIY kit car builders is compared to how many companies that sell kits?
>If you're building complete vehicles, how do you plan on registering them? Keep in mind that you'd be a manufacturer, so you couldn't use programs for self-built cars like SB100.

input shaft bearing
input shaft bearing
md5: d6b5d0a8b377ca6bbf5660415e17617b๐Ÿ”
Trying to understand how the input shaft bearing is lubricated in a manual transmission. Specifically in a Miata, but any general insight would be appreciated too. I thought it would be lubricated by the transmission oil, but then I watched this video:

https://youtu.be/u8rTYlK8Q0g?t=126

Picrelated is a couple frames from the video. In the top frame, it's showing the front of the input shaft bearing which has the ball bearings exposed. The second frame shows the back of the input shaft bearing, and you can see it doesn't seem to be open to the rest of the transmission. Yet at the very start of the video, when he removes the end cap, liquid pours out from the bearing and it looks a lot like transmission fluid, not grease like I would expect in a bearing. Can anyone explain? Does the input shaft bearing have its own sealed lubricant?

>Where do you feel max acceleration, is it peak torque or peak hp
Without a gearbox, it would be peak torque. A gearbox lets you convert excess RPM into torque and vice versa, so it's peak power.

>but if HP is all we care about in terms of the "feel" of going faster, why do we care about the torque?
Peak torque is where an engine is most efficient, and it's a useful tool for tuning, but you shouldn't really care about the peak torque number on a spec sheet.

>>28495654
It will just condense in the overflow tank and be drawn back into radiator later on. You only lose meaningful amounts of coolant when the radiator boils over, which is typically only an issue at high loads combined with low speed, high altitude, or drafting.

HP is not a function or torque, so that's one source of your misunderstanding. Higher torque will get the car from lower RPM to higher RPM faster, so it will lead to a stronger feeling of acceleration there, especially the feeling of acceleration from a complete stop. High torque also allows you to accelerate faster when going uphill. Horsepower determines top speed and that's it. A farm tractor is a good example of insane torque and low horsepower.

You're wrong. Power is torque times RPM. It's torque at the wheels, not the crankshaft that determines acceleration, which is determined by power, because power divided by wheel speed is your torque at the wheels. Farm tractors have insane torque at the wheels/tracks because they have insanely short gearing, not because they have insanely high torque. Many of them actually have less torque than a Honda.

>>28495830
Ok lets think about two scenarios, suppose you have 500 HP and 120 lbft of torque in one car, and 500 HP and 600 lbft of torque in another car.
If you could somehow measure at the instantaneous RPM the amount of acceleration felt in both cars, would there be any difference in how the cars feel?
Is torque only a useful quantity to know if you can move from a dead stop?

No it's useful to know so you can install proper transmission and drive ratio.
And of course since you don't have infinity gears, you want some sort of reasonable torque for the application of the vehicle. Truck should generate more power at lower rpm compared to a sports car.
It's less and less relevant with more gears you have available.

Peak power doesn't tell you the whole story unless you have a magical CVT that can hold you exactly at peak power no matter how much or how quickly the wheel speed changes. But yes, if you had exactly the same amount of power at exactly the same velocity in exactly the same car, you'd have the same acceleration regardless of the torque.

Maybe I can show you how power and acceleration are related:
1. Let's say you're going 75 MPH and you have 500 pounds of tractive force (the actual force that pushes you forward) and 25" outside diameter tires.
2. 24" OD tires have a 75.4" circumference
3. 1 mile / 75.4" circumference = 840.3 rotations * 75 mph = 63022.5 rotations per hour / 60 minutes per hour = 1050 RPM
4. 24" OD / 12" per foot = 2 feet * 500 pounds = 1,000 foot-pounds
5. 1,000 foot-pounds * 1,050 RPM / 5252 (scaling coefficient) = 200 horsepower
6. Power in is power out (ignoring friction losses), so because you have 200 horsepower at the wheels, you also have 200 horsepower at the engine
7. This 200 horsepower at the engine could be 200 ft-lbs at 5252 RPM, or 100 ft-lbs at 10,504 RPM, or 400 ft-lbs at 2626 RPM, it's all the same.

If you didn't follow any of that, just let me know where and I can clarify. And no, torque doesn't matter at a dead stop, either. You still have gearing even when you aren't moving.

Hijacking this because I also have an input shaft bearing question.

Most places point to the input shaft bearing. Dunno if the mechanic fucked me and didn't change the clutch without topping the transmission oil (I'm a retard wrenchlet) I haven't considered replacing the transmission oil as the previous owner told me he hadn't changed it and I don't want to risk losing any metal filings needed for the synchros to grip. Any ideas on a cheap fix. If it comes down to transmission teardown I'd rather just drive it till it grenades, but if there's any cheap way I can prolong it's life by early intervention I'm all ears

I usually associate that kind of noise with a throwout bearing, not an ISB. Without a load the clutch kind of chatters along the throwout bearing, when you press it in it's all squeezed together and the bearing spins like it should. If it annoys you, you could try taking out apart and repacking or replacing the bearing, but it won't hurt anything and it's kind of a lot of work.

This is what I would think too, but bafflingly, the transmission side does not seem to be open. The only way I can rationalize it is that the transmission side might have a "cover" of some sort for whatever reason, but maybe it's not fluid tight. I would be eternally grateful to anyone who has held an input shaft bearing in their hands and can confirm.

>slowly returns after a couple of seconds
It's hard to imagine an input shaft bearing problem that takes a couple of seconds to kick in. The input shaft is spinning full speed as soon as the clutch is engaged.

typically when buying a car like that, one would drive the car, agree on terms, and both parties would drive to the buyer's bank. if financing the bank would give the seller a cashiers check in exchange for the title. if paying cash the buyer would give the seller a cashiers check from the bank. it's pretty rare to spend five figures in cash.

they are different chemical compounds. Supposedly green should be changed every two years.
Orange can be 5 - 8 years...but I wouldn't do that. Use whatever your OEM recommends. Don't mix them ever. Sludge is usually due to mixing them or using the wrong "color" and it's corroding something and creating sludge.

Why does engine rpm increase when going down a gear and decrease when going up a gear? I understand all that stuff about torque and gear ratios, but what is confusing me is that the gears change the speed of the output shaft, not the input shaft, right? So the speed of the transmission is changing because of the change in gear ratios, but why does it also change the speed of the engine? Idk if I am making myself clear.

Car travelling at 100mph in a 1:1 gear at 2k rpm
Drop down to a lower gear that's 2:1, so that the engine needs to rotate twice for the driveshaft to rotate once, since you're still traveling at 100mph your engine rpm needs to increase to 4k (or you would get clutch slip or binding). If you don't increase throttle to maintain that higher rpm your car would slow down because the engine is acting as brake.

I also saw online those cars are very expensive, way over what I could ever consider for a car. Are there any other cars that look similar to either, or perhaps a kit car that uses that sort of shell?

That's how gear ratios work, but it's not how the throttle works. You would only need to increase the throttle position if it was a big diesel or something and the valves were floating so you made less power at 4000 RPM.

yes. they spin at different speeds because of the gear ratio between them (unless you're in a 1:1 gear like 4th usually is) but it's pretty much a solid connection from the wheels to the engine.

I have a 2012 Honda Accord and yesterday the alarm started randomly going off. I'd lock/unlock it, the alarm would go off, and then ~10 minutes later the alarm would starting off again. When I would lock the car, normally when I press the lock key twice, it'll beep the horn the second time. The horn was NOT honking regardless of how many times I hit the lock button. If I opened all the doors(always ending with the front trunk, not on purpose, just realizing that now), it would then lock. I'm thinking it has to do with a door sensor, but I could also see it being just a shitty car battery OR key fob battery. Anyone ever deal with anything like this before? I just got laid off, so I don't want to jump at getting a new battery if it's some sensor. I have my wifes car to use as well, so not an immediate concern that I need to throw money at, but I'm curious if you all have any thoughts?

Technically you can put a turbo anywhere in the exhaust system. If you mean "are there long tube turbo manifolds," yes, they look like this and they're typically custom and pricey. If you mean "I have a set of headers on my car already, do I need to get rid of them to add a turbo," look into remote mount turbo systems.

A transverse RWD car wouldn't have any different power delivery than a longitudinal RWD car. The difference is going to be in weight distribution, which is more complex than "X front, Y rear." Notice in your picture how the entire engine is ahead of the strut towers? That's typical for transverse engines, and also some cars with longitudinal engines like Subarus. You can balance that weight out by putting an equal weight in the same position in the back to give you a 50/50 weight distribution, but that gives you an extremely high polar moment of inertia, which makes the car resist changes in direction. Compare that to something like this Viper where the entire engine is behind the strut towers, closer to the center of the car.

>>28501110
What does that have to do with throttle position? You know what a throttle does, right? Hint: It's not related to fuel.

They show this fee on every car on their website. What're the odds of getting that waived off? Carfax says they did the brakes (no rotors) and tires. Pads are $170 and the tires are $890. Idk, going from $28k to $30k makes this a bad deal all of a sudden. I maybe should just wait. Like you might not ever be able to bleed those brakes without new calipers and/or new lines. Soak everything with PB now; and again in a week, and then like a day or two before you have to work on any of it. And have a torch and big ugga dugga nearby.

Yes you can most likely cut it off there and stretch the cable. There is usually a couple inches of slop so it'll most likely still reach. Worst case you'll have to replace the whole cable which isn't that expensive and is usually fairly easy.

This 100%, I'm not paying for all these different streaming services, or god forbid cable, to watch the 4 or 5 racing series' I care about. And honestly I don't really care about them like I used to enough to torrent them or find some wild ass sketch stream like I used to

Some pebble must've hit my roof some time ago and there is a rusty spot the size of a needle poke on top.
Should I even bother taking it to a body shop? About 2 or 3 other spots on my car's body would apreciate a touch up too(small dents and scratches) + the front bumper which is a bit messed up but you still have to get real close to see it since its scratched on the side bellow.

get a wiring diagram and trace where the power is coming from. i dont think these had a body control module controlling them, if thats the case most likely an internal problem in the switch. if it does have a BCM see if you can connect a scantool to it to read codes and read the dashboard lights state PID

I'm looking at shitboxes. Dealer mechanic notes says he say dried coolant residue but the water pump housing looked new (so probably replaced). Do I trust that the previous PO wasn't a retard and stopped when it failed and didn't overheat the thing / it was a slow leak that was replaced, or should I just avoid it? It's a 2017 v6 toyoter with 72k miles. The rest of the service history is great. oil changes every 5k at the dealership up to 50k miles.

passenger side or driver side? If passenger side, it could be a clogged drain. your a/c causes water condensate and a line runs right next to the passenger foot area.
If driver side, smell it. If it doesn't smell like coolant, then it probably isn't coolant so it isn't a heater core.
If it's usually damp after raining, then you have a clogged drain line. I'm guessing you have a sunroof. Nissans are kind of known for these clogging a lot. My mom's G35 had a similar problem.

The hose is a silicone aftermarket to replace the old rubber OEM which, funnily enough, was actually leaking from a hole in same area.
The screw clamp was a re-use however so I'm going to replace it. Quite easy to put on but I had no idea about reuseability bc wrenchlet.
I'll try the clamp you linked if still hapless. Cheers.

I'll consider it, then. I like the color and it's $24k for a 72k mile car. My other option is $27k for a 55k mile car. Is it worth $3k more for 20k miles less, idk but that blue is nice.
I'll look in the coolant reservoir and pop the oil cap as well just to make sure there's no chocolate...it's not a fly-by-night dealership, I doubt they would be scummy. They replaced the front lower control arms and the starter as part of reconditioning it before selling.
