Happened me the other day. I opened my door and it hit the door of the car next to me. The black guy in the driver's seat just kind of looked at me while playing on his phone and I said sorry and then pretended to look at the door and made a gesture indicating there was no damage (in reality, there was a scratch). I came back from the store a few minutes later got in my car and left while he was still sitting there.

However, I noticed that on the other side of his car there were numerous dents and massive multi-foot long scratches. So, I think because of that he didn't care about the door nick.

Get insurance involved. I just got my car painted and all dings removed. There were no scratches or dings until they hit it.
