I have a route job where I stop and start my car every few miles all day. It's wearing down my car. I have no experience with electric cars. I'm also thinking about a hybrid since they're used to starting and stopping more.

Why wouldn't it be? It's their property and they have every right to ban incendiary devices from parking on it. It's no different than parking garages banning propane vehicles.

American EVs with exception of Tesla are garbage.

>>28483613
87 miles is a bit above what's ideal for plug in hybrids (40 miles) but still not bad. If I was buying an EV today I wouldn't opt for the cheapest segment. In the 20-25k segment you can score some absolute bargains of what used to be premium models a few years back. If you can't pay that then maybe plug in hybrid makes more sense.

Some EVs I would suggest are Tesla Model 3, Kia EV6, Kia Niro, Hyundai Kona and VW ID4.

Do you work for a larger company or a smaller one? If it's a larger company, they really should be buying an electric fleet. If it's small, or you're just doing gig work, frequent starts and stops aren't THAT bad as long as the engine stays warm. A deep cycle battery is about all I would invest in. If you're an Uber eats driver (lol) just to pay rent while waiting for real job offers, yet somehow have the cash to swap vehicles, get a huge scooter like a Burgman 650. Great fuel economy and storage.

Charging is incredibly slow, torsion beam rear is uncomfortable and shitty, it torque steers and wheel hops like a mother so I sold it for a Porsche.

If your job depends on your car and a bolt is the size you can live with, get a prius. More room, hybrid drive system so you only have to fill it up, and with normal maintenance it'll last years.

It's horrifying on wet roads. The car was legitimately unsafe at a decline while turning. The stock tires were low rolling resistance pieces of shit. Glad I sold that Merrymutt death trap.

the stock tires are a menace, ngl. You just have to budget for a new set if you decide to buy the car and it still has the stock tires.

I did, the car was then roughly 10% less efficient. It still had some torque steer, but it wasn't a rolling death trap. Then some cute blonde zoomer girl ran into me and I sold the car before the accident showed up on its record and mid life crisis'd into a Porsche.

I canโ€™t speak to the bolt, but once your engine is up to temperature stopping and starting it isnโ€™t going to put any extra wear on it. Maybe the battery, but not the engine.
So if I were you I donโ€™t think Iโ€™d get a new car for your job.

A big part of what's been making me consider it is that my job pays for ev charging but not gas. Could save me ~$200/mo. That paired with not having to maintain my 25 year old car could save me decent money
