I'll explain it. Once cartels found how to synth fent in 2012 or so they stopped making traditional downers. It's 1000x stronger than strong opium by weight and can be smuggled easily.
Around 2014 the CDC sent out a letter threatening doctors and they stopped prescribing pain or anxiety meds, and latter stopped handing out stimulants like candy. Many, if not most, pills sold on the street today are either fent or meth presses made to look like the real thing. Kids get one from someone in uni, they look up the pill online, see that it's supposed to be a small xanax and take 2 without realizing it's really a lethal dose of fent, they really have no idea.
Should these kids be trying drugs? Eh, I don't see the issue but some might. Drugs exist and people know about them. The issue is the bastards who profit off of poisoning americans and passing off dangerous chems as safer ones.
