>Won't build a motorcycle
>Never followed through on an ATV
>Fell short of giving a cheap entry model ($42,490 Model 3? Really?)
>Cybertruck not trusted for any real work
>Getting left behind in sales by EV rivals
>Robotics division lagging in finishing a robot
>Energy generation and storage with EV regulatory credits are the only saving grave that provides a profit margin.

...yet E-bikes are doing great.

Imagine if you will an Ebike that can charge on a Tesla charge station.

The motorcycles don’t have a big enough market to justify the overhead cost into building them. The ATVs are the same, but this guy probably figured they could build one as a gimmick and then sell it like the flamethrower but the problem is that an ATV isn’t very much like a car just because it has 4 wheels which is no doubt what this buffoon imagined when he said it before he thought about it.

As for the Cybercuck, it’s just a failure of a vehicle because it has the same problems all Tesla vehicles have. They’re cars built by Silicon Valley geeks and pajeets. They’re not cars built by car people or even everyday drivers. That turns out okay with the cars, but when it comes to a truck it comes out like trash. The truck is a Bay Area nerd’s fantasy rather than a real truck guy truck. A car just has to get you from A to B. It’s carried enormously by autonomous driving and being cheaper to commute with. But the truck needs to be more than that and they fail because they can’t achieve anything more than the bare minimum well. Tesla doesn’t have car or truck guys making their vehicles and that’s why they’ll never be better than they are right now.

America just doesn’t have the demand for bikes in general that you see elsewhere. We don’t live in these short-distance suburban-urban jive metros like they do in Asia and to a somewhat lesser degree Europe and so the motorcycle isn’t as convenient. Cars are also part of the American culture. Nearly all motorcycle riders in America ride as hobbyists. Their main vehicle is not a motorcycle but a car. In Asia it’s totally different and in Europe there are plenty of riders who own no car. Now you might think they would sell like hot cakes in Asia but they won’t because they’ll be expensive. Only the Chinese could afford them and their demand for bikes is slowing while their demand for cars grows. So the market for an e-bike just isn’t there. Motorcycles are a niche sport-enthusiast product now and they won’t be brought to market successfully unless they can do so cheaply, which nobody in the e-bike space can. If Tesla ever surges and is flush with cash again, maybe they’ll do one as a one time thing and never again but that’s it. E-bikes are dead in the water.

>Getting left behind in sales by EV rivals
lmao by what metric? 43% of EVs sold in the US in Q1 2025 were Tesla. It's down from the 52% of Q1 2024 but brother... 43%. That's fuckin WILD. Imagine if any other car maker made up nearly half of all car sales. Even after all the political bullshit, the Model Y was the best selling EV, the 4th best selling car overall. Second place on the EV market share podium is, shockingly, Genesis at 7.7%. Third is Chevy at 6.5% and those 3 are the only ones above 5%. 22 other brands are all squabbling for the remaining 40% of EV buyers.

Elon lost interest in cars. We could have had:
>Model 2
>station wagon variant of the Model S
>Semi
>Roadster 2.0
>Normal looking truck
but no Elon put all his company resources into a stainless steel meme called the Cybertruck, a model 2 but without a steering wheel (?) and a humanoid robot.

Maybe they're holding for now in the American market, but they're losing steam FAST. Dongfeng automotive, BYD and SAIC group are gaining ground. How is Tesla supposed to compete when companies like Volvo get bought out by Geely, use the frames and start a new company Polestar, and start using it as a shell company to import EVs?

Apples to oranges.

2 million reservations for a hyped up steel box with Elon fanbois screeching in delight from an established company is one thing.

A ragtag group of ex auto workers trying to create a startup with no history and little more than investment funding by a big name (Bezos) is a whole new story.

Charge more than gas in a market dominated by enthusiasts. The real question is why did they think it would work? Ever check the specs some had ranges measured in minutes.

What is even more telling
For the first time people actually have a choice in lower cost not pitiful evs and they still choose Tesla.
Seriously look up how many EVs came to market in the last two years. Most can't even beat cybertruck sales.

I must be the only motorcyclist that thinks electric bikes are at least kind of cool. When my Harley Dealership dropped Livewire last year, I was kind of sad. I tried one out and liked it. They even had a used Livewire One I almost got, but someone bought it before me. Well, everyone claims that electric bikes don't make sense, I see them as completely practical in the American market. 99% of motorcyclists in America don't ride. When they ride, it's to the bar or coffee shop 5 miles from their house only a handful of times a year. The limited range of a bike won't matter. Everyone talks about that "big trip," but no one ever does it.
I saw it too many times in sales at my local powersports dealer. Worked there 2 years and I'd have guys come in claiming they wanted a bike for riding to work, taking on trips, blah blah blah, but then they'd come in over a year later for their first service which is 1000 miles or less depending on the model. It was especially bad with guys who got ADV and naked bikes, the bikes everyone always says they want because they're practical for riding frequently and for a long time.
I ride to work everyday, even in the rain, and that Livewire One would've worked for my 10 miles commute home and back, or my weekend rides.
>Well, why haven't you gotten a zero or sumtin hypocrite?
Used zeros are cheap, but everyone is dropping them. That's the issue, service in the future. I have no faith now. I wasn't in the financial state to buy anything over $5k until last year. I guess it's good I didn't because I might've been left with a bike I might not be able to get fixed soon. I would've adopted it, and I just wish older, wealthier people had before me so I could rn.
