It depends on where you are in your country and the world. Obviously, the vast majority of very expensive cars are owned by wealthy people. But there are cars that are de rigueur for the rich and have been for decades. Volvo and Mercedes estate cars (especially V70, E, etc), full size Range Rovers and the like

It's a meme that's partially true. Jeff Bezos drove the same Toyota Camry for like 15 years. He didn't get filthy rich by driving a cheap car of course. He's just not a car guy. Bill Gates was famous for driving all kinds of Porsches and Ferraris. My favorite rich guy car story is that Steve Jobs used to get Mercedes/Porsches with 6 month leases because under some California law he stayed inside the grace period for getting a license plate, so he never put them on.
