A large part of them are not even from their holy book, but are based on anecdotes (hadith) of the prophet's supposed words, actions and silent approvals, compiled by political and religious authorities a few hundred years later (obviously super accurate).
Which things are officially prophet-approved and holy-as-fuck depend on who compiled your branch's anecdotes and who's currently interpreting them.
Far as I know, music is among the things mostly discussed in those anecdotes. So it might be perfectly fine if your sect doesn't accept the anecdote about the prophet glancing upon an MP3 player and looking at it with disdain (as witnessed by some goat herder, later declared a saint).
