I'm so jealous of you americans since you got the Scion TC while we Europeans didn't. I mean the car is based on the Toyota Avensis which is a car not even sold in US but sold in Europe.

Why couldn't we get this car? Just call it Toyota TC or Toyota Zelas as middle easteners called it.

Because here in Europe in there's zero exciting mid 2000s Japanese cars other than the Civic Type R. The Scion TC could have been the follow up to the last Toyota Celica.

That's actually what it was designed to be. It was a car ppl got their 16 year olds with FWD and low power for cheap insurance, many in my hs got new ones. I had a base RSX with a header and it was better than tCs in every way.

Yeah but the last gen Honda Integra (Acura RSX) had been discontinued by the time the Scion TC was released. Celica was gone, Integra was gone, Prelude was gone, MX6 was gone and 180/200/240SX and Silvia were gone as well.

The only cars still left in that market segment when Scion TC was released were the Hyundai Tiburon/Coupe and the Mitsubishi Eclipse.

>Avensis
>was actually sold in Japan
>sedan, liftback and wagon
>offered with a diesel that made more power than the TC that Americans got (and a lot more torque)
>manual available of course
>even the autotragic in the Avensis was improved (got a 5 speed auto while the TC kept it's 4 speed)
I'm more jealous of the Avensis, at least you can larp as a JDMfag with one. Scion TCs have unfortunately only been owned by the "big Altima energy" types for the past decade or so, so they don't exactly have a good reputation. If you see one that still has the bezel around the license plate (that's not being held on with tape) I'd be shocked.

>60K euros for a new one
Fucking "temporary car tax" from the 1950s. And also fucking used car dealers who lobbied to keep it when they thought of removing it in the 2010s, because it would lower used car value.

Yeah I was mistaken. I remembered that TC came out in 06 for some reason which was the Integra's last year. But yeah the Integra was discontinued soon after the TC came out.

Fair enough. It's probably a fine car, better than most new cars. It's fairly responsive but a little boring. I'd drive one in a pinch over some CUV for sure.

Erm actually its a glorified Camry. The first gen got the 2AZ and the 2nd gen got the 2AR.
>>28497073 (OP)
I had both a first and second gen. They're great cars but a bit too heavy to be taken serious. The 2nd gen in particular really benefits from a CAI and a 93 octane tune. I managed 0-60 in 6.2 seconds with good tires on mine. Avoid the automatics, the manual is so much better. I'd like to drive one again, I kind of miss it. I moved a 60" TV in the back of mine and I've seen photos of people fitting the TC's own doors in back.

"Double digit IQ" is spending any amount of time defending a 4200lb, transverse-engined V6 sedan. It's a useless failure of a car that weighs as much as a RWD, V8 sedan with not a single of the benefits of one.
