>>28510208Surprisingly reliable. Nothing major has failed. It's pretty much has just been old car maintenance. I've had to replace hoses, bushes, balljoints, shock absorbers, bulbs, pads and rotors, water pump, fuel pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, idler and pulley, all sorts of gaskets, and a sensor or two. The drivetrain is pretty much bulletproof. I've got the 4.2 SC V8 with the ZF 6HP26 transmission. As long as you don't skip fluid changes intervals and make sure the cooling system is healthy, you won't ever have a catastrophic failure. And, since this is a Ford era Jag, I don't ever have electrical issues, at least, none that can't be solved with either a new battery or contact cleaner. Ford made sure to exorcise the ghost of Lucas. I've had it for 8 years now and added 40k miles to the odometer. I do my own wrenching and buy quality parts. That has probably kept the cost of ownership very low. Most shops charge an arm and a leg just because it's a Jag. I don't know how reliable a Ford is, but this Jag has treated me well. If I didn't live in a tiny tropical island, I'd be sure to have twice the mileage I do now.
