It varies
In my part of Euroland high displacement engines have INSANE fees. So much that you would end up paying double the fees and insurance on a 2L compared to a sub 1.8L
And this is reflected on used car prices too
The lowest trim E90(1.6L engine) goes for about the same as a low trim E60
The E65 is sold even cheaper(due to it being an even bigger money pit also)
Recently a diesel E65 near me was sold for 3.9K euros

OP is from Eastern Europe so speed limits are a suggestion. I did a roadtrip to Croatia once and eastern euro drivers are legitimately insane. Niggas in clapped out vans and economy cars going 200km/h on the highway that is limited to 100-140km/h, niggas going 150 in 50-80 backwater roads with potholes. And if you get held up by cops you can just pay em off with 50 euros because the cops earn like fucking 700 euros a month at best.

The least sane drivers I encountered to the East of Germany (Croatia included) were with German plates. I suspect they compensate for their own strict enforcement of traffic rules while being abroad.

you're definitely not paying a bit more on fuel on a 328i or whatever the fuck you're talking about. even while granny driving a 30d is going to be superior in fuel consumption. if you drive the 328i to redline like you're supposed to then it consumes more than a modern m3. rofl. it's just cope that you can't afford the maintenace on a n54 35i or simply can't afford a 40i while wasting half your wage on the 28i fuel, because if it wasn't half your wage then you'd just go straight to a turbo inline six.

>abstract myself from loud vibrating underpowered engines
The "european" OP who wrote that obviously learned English as a second language or used a something to translate. Idk, I'm an ESL too, but even I know that abstracting oneself from something means distancing or separating or withdrawing from it, so I was able to get what he meant. You for some reason weren't.

What's the qrd on running LPG? It seems novel but I'm guessing it's more complication and not as much power.

Honestly I'm curious if you cou run a giant american V8 with it, that seems neat

it makes ur car half as expensive to run
cant park underground
gotta change filters on the lpg system
engine has to be non direct injection
you cant really tell how much u got in the tank

double the range, with a full fuel tank and lpg you could do 1000 miles easily without stopping
can be near as powerful as petrol if done correctly

Propane vehicles have been a thing for decades in North America. They were super common in the 80's and 90's but the fad died off. You can run any (maybe not super modern??) gasoline engine off it with a conversion kit. Most of the UPS delivery trucks here are propane powered. Probably 95% of school buses are running Ford V10's on propane. It makes sense for them because they have a tanker truck come and refuel their trucks at night in the yard. Finding auto propane at a regular gas station would seems like a massive pain in the dick.

Factory systems are okay I guess (but I always thought that most of them use methane), but aftermarket conversions are expensive and more complicated if done properly. Improper ones will damage the engine, because LPG burns differently from the gasoline, so you have to alter the tables or at least vary the ignition timing to take that into account which is not easy because the supply switches between both fuels. Since the reason for such conversion is saving a bit of money on fuel at the expense of having all the disadvantages of a conversion, you don't expect to find a decent properly converted car/truck on the used market. I'm interested mostly in later Chevrolet small block/earlier LS series, and in Eastern Europe they are known to suffer from LPG conversions (burnt valves iirc), so the advice is to avoid the listing/seller completely if you spot the LPG filling connector.

The cons (apart from the engine not working correctly and not being able to use underground/indoor parking as another anon have said) are not having full power from the engine, alterations to a number of factory systems (like nigger rigging the intake to accommodate gas injectors), having to install the tank(s) somewhere, having to service the system (most owners are niggards and don't do that), having to find the specific filling stations (not so common as gas) and the smell. Being okay with all that just to save a bit (not even a half) on fuel (which isn't the only expense item with an old and possibly imported vehicle) requires a certain character type for the owner and certain approach to ownership lots of car enthusiasts tend to avoid.
