I've sunk thousands in a 100 buck shitbox and don't regret a penny of it.

Some features of the car are difficult to change.

For example clio v6 was fast, but the short wheelbase made it easy to turn it around corners.

Powerful engine is not enough to turn a shitbox into a real sports car (unless you're an American and don't know what cornering is)

Clio V6 have a significantly longer wheelbase than the Lotus Elise, Toyota MR-S, Ferrari 308 or Pontiac Fiero, and is about equivalent to Lotus Evora/Emira or the Honda NSX.
The Modern Alpine A110, beloved for its great dynamic behavior, has a shorter wheelbase too.
It's true the Clio V6 was unwieldy in turns but I suspect it was something else. Suspension design, maybe.

Second problem is the rear subframe which was moving around in it's mounts a little too much, but this aspect was heavily revised for the facelift model and made for a massive improvement

The car was created by bolting an entire Laguna V6 front axle with driveline into the rear end of a Clio, and the another one without driveline into the front. There are probably some unholy quirks in that suspension geometry
