If it's the golf R it seems pretty fast. Most golfs are a bit boring to drive, not sure if that also applies to the R though.

You'll really love it. Mogs the subaru in every way. I would even go so far as to say it's the better version of the S3 in every way. It flies under the radar and is more useable and practical every day. The infotainment no longer sucks and is actually intuitive and responsive now. Insurance will probably be much cheaper as well. Much higher-quality aftermarket, you can turn this into an absolute rocketship if that's what you want.
I have the MK8.5 GTI, and I'm absolutely in love with it. An R would have been a stretch purchase for me, so I avoided test driving one because I knew I would have wanted it bad.

You got unlucky. This is more of a problem with dealerships in general than any one manufacturer. They all have the potential to be like this. It's an unchecked, dirty business that has been allowed to keep its power and influence over the automotive industry for too long by retarded boomers.

Me, I got lucky. The VW dealer in my hometown that I got mine from was fine. My sales guy knew his shit and encouraged me to push it on the test drive. He himself drove a GLI and told me where I should go to tint the windows. I went in preparing to fight the sales staff at every turn and honestly I was disappointed by how amicable they were instead.

Older DCTs were notably rough, that's probably what anon is thinking of. They're never going to be as smooth as slushboxes or CVTs, but these days they're perfectly comfortable if you can execute the most basic amount of throttle control. And VW DCTs are king, always have been.

Guys I bought it, Im so happy, normally they do a 10k markup on it but I know the owner so I paid under msrp. Its so much faster than my WRX was holy shit. Its got everything Ive wanted. The only thing thats taking a bit of getting used to is the gear selector

Glad you're loving it as much as I love my GTI bro. I never had trouble catching on to the gear selector, but I used to drive rental cars everywhere so I'm used to all kinds of automatics. Seems like people can get really opinionated about their gear selectors, but personally I don't care how I put it in D. I think the little Porsche-style chicken nugget it has is funny, I like it.

What packages does yours have? Is it a black edition like you posted in the OP?

The wheel is a tiny bit looser than the WRX but its, but the buttons aren't an issue at all. They are indented so no accidental touches.

Hell yeah, mine is black too. I'd recommend getting it professionally ceramic-coated ASAP or devote a weekend to learning it yourself if you want to save a couple hundred bux. It'll make cleaning a breeze, and rain won't do shit to it. Pic related.

Dealership detailers are not really professionals. They actually messed up mine pretty badly just with the basic wash before I took delivery of it. My detailer had to take care of several scuffs and scratches before coating.

I'm not driving these on a track or have expectations to be driving the fastest thing out there. Looking for some performance and balancing that across other features. The R appears to do that for me. I only lean toward GR because the VW salesmen made it super weird when trying to talk to them about the car; my dealership experience was overall poor with VW:

Nice car but the haptic controls everywhere is a little much for me. Seems a little pricey for what it is. Owners are the biggest fucking faggots I've ever met.
