It's a scare tactic to make you buy GAP from them. Just tack it on to your regular insurance policy for pennies on the dollar.

then why do retards keep spouting that statement then? Any big ticket item nobody will go sell right away after they bought and if you're looking to buy, you are going to rather go to the dealer/supplier for a guaranteed product rather than pay close to full price privately and not get any recourse if things go wrong.

No shit, just don't buy rentals. You can easily id a rental by the following features.
>egg shape
>McDonald's struts
>automatic only
>engine is plastic
You find a car without these features and you will notice it only goes up in value.

The drop in value is real, but not for the goy purchaser because the difference in value is stolen by the government and dealership. Here in keknada you immediately lose the tax you already paid and then the value they give you is based on what you could get in a private sale minus the tax on that because they know that a trade in is the only situation where you can recover taxes so the market value of the reduced price they give you ends up being the same as a private sale . And then on top of that they subtract their profit margin. So a brand new $49k car costs you $55k with tax, if you want to get rid of it then the value of the car is $49k minus tax so $43.3k, minus profit margin and minus some amount because it no longer qualifies for good financing. In total you lose out $13-14k and the dealership puts up the used car on sale for $48k because they know thats what a private seller will try to get for it. The whole thing is a scam that's allowed to happen by the government because they want that tax money, but even if you could recover taxes in a private sale then nothing would change for the purchaser because the market price is set by what the private seller is trying to get.

Doesn't matter as long as some one else is left holding the bag after the warranty runs out. People worry about babying their new cars, but who actually keeps a car until it falls apart? You're just doing the next owner a favor.

No. I mean the ones that the dealers take customers out in while the salesman is in the passenger seat.
In my case, my car was the company car of the dealership sales manager

For my last 5 dailies, covering something like 25 years, every one has been an ex-dealer demonstrator and every one has been virtually faultless.
You pay your money, you takes your choice.

true, and accidents. A $60k car with like 10k miles after 2 years (no accidents/1 owner), isn't going to be worth $30k lmao. It's going to be worth at least $50k.

Oh yeah and whether it's still in warranty or not.
god "depreciation" is such a meme
The car is literally worth less because it's less reliable, not because the INVISIBLE FORCE OF TIME just takes away value directly

These rumored 30% cheaper new-ish cars can only be bought off from car rental services, as they sell their cars as soon as they start devaluating.
The biggest problem is that these services treat their cars like shit, meaning that you have a high chance of getting a car that looks like new, but with a time bomb of an engine.

It's stupid old boomer cope.
I can't think of any examples where a car would even lose 20% if sold within 12 months unless it racked up a shit load of mileage.
Plus now in post-covid world where everything has a wait list, people will even oay a premium to get a 6 month old used car on the day rather than wait 3 months for their new car to be delivered.

They don't exist, it takes at least three years and 40k miles for the price to drop that much. Also people don't pay full price except for Tesla and Dacia, the average discount is 20% so of course used car buyers will factor this in.

Dealerfag here. Happens shockingly often
>Guy buys new f250 king ranch edition 200 miles later trades it in at my Dodge dealer to get a 3500 because he found out it can't pull his toy hauler up hill on the freeway
>Lady buys new Mercedes. 500 miles comes to our dealer and trades it in because it doesn't want to pair for apple car play and the dealer told her it wasn't a problem with the car
>Guy buys brand new Audi Q8 Etron S line
>Goes home and takes it because because his wife doesn't want an electric car.
This is just the most absurd examples I can think of off the top of my head. There are a lot of people who just lease a new car every year and put on <5k miles on them. Especially in the luxury segment. My time at Audi and Mercedes I knew some customers on a personal basis because they'd come in every fucking year. I had a few couples that would come in a couple months after the other because they'd finish their lease and it was time to get another one. Some people just don't care about money

what a joke. 2024 premium msrp was $33,000. Considering 3% inflation, that's $33,990 ($34,195 for a 2025 premium new currently). Pretty much paying "new" for a used car with 16k miles lmao. I guess a $500 discount, big whoop.
Cars within 1 or 2 years of their year honestly isn't worth buying used.
