Shitbox leaking some kind of fluid. i thought it was oil, but its not coming from the oil pan or oil filter. its coming from what looks like part of the front subframe? what is it. i smelled it but it doesn't seem to smell like anything, it doesn't smell like motor oil, and it seems to have the consistency of water. it also stops leaking when the car cools down but starts again when i drive the car long enough for it to heat up. so far, no warning lights have coming.

could it be water from your ac condenser?

possible. i'll put the car on ramps again and pop the hood. crank the AC up/down and see if that makes it leak more or less.

Anonymous No.28515680 [Report]
>>28515678
oil drain bolt has always been like that. not sure if the mechanic who last touched it fucked it up or something, but oil is not coming from there. i don't know what that blue shit is.

That blue stuff is a thick marker paint to show if someone loosened/pulled the drain plug out to commit fraud.

Looks like your subframe and exhaust system is about to rust through at multiple points, probably caused by leaking water from the AC condenser. Best just to get a new car

Yes, you are. Probably should stick to google searches if you're such a wrenchlet you're not aware that cars regularly drip water from their condensers. Also, you may want to have a mechanic look at whether your condenser drain tube is damaged or missing. It shouldn't be draining onto your subframe unless your car was designed by slavs

I see I've found the stupid questions thread.
is this amount of axle travel okay? this seems like a lot of play. youtube comments seem to think a bit of travel here is okay, but I can see the fuckin C keys moving around and it just seems like a lot

Sorry to hear that, you are going to need to replace the subframe gasket, which is a big job.

Water dripping from the bottom of the car on a hot day ehh?

Well its definitely not normal condensation on the AC evaporator. Sounds like you'll need to buy a brand new car.

Looks like a Ford 8.8 with limited slip. C-clip axles always have play. As long as the c-clip is captured and won't fall out, it's fine.

The amount of play you have does seem higher than nominal, which probably means your limited slip clutches are worn out. The clutches sit outboard of the the spider gear, and as they wear, the gear moves outboard, giving the illusion of too much play.
Anonymous No.28521766 [Report] >>28523344
>>28521762
Oh, and it looks like you have a good amount of backlash between the side spider gear and top spider gear, also suggesting your clutches are worn.

check your power steering fluid reservoir for low fluid level. if its low check the passenger side of the steering rack for leaks

hey thanks for this, the spider gears are chunked up and the teeth are chipped, I attributed my problems to that but I'll check the clutch as well
