I'm 219'' long. That's still close enough. One of the bigger vehicles you can drive is more or less the same size as a modern "small" truck. Keep in mind that's a base model Ranger too. Once you go to a Tremor or a Raptor the difference becomes even smaller.

As it should be. They sell very well. In 2025 very few are going to buy a compact truck as a work truck. They will just buy a F-150, Silverado, RAM 1500.

The Maverick, Ranger et al. are regular personal vehicles. An anon here recently bought a Maverick and was cross shopping with Honda Civics which is about right. The Maverick can tow 4,000 lbs and 1,500 payload which is perfectly reasonable.

Nah it followed the steps of american pickup turcks to the tee because Ford as well as other truck makers for euro market realized that nobody buys these things for work, they're mid life crisis cars for overweight balding men to larp as rugged and dependable.

for the last half a century a "work truck" in europe has been a cab chassis van with a dropside bed.
They make em small, they make em big, and whatever length you want with whatever payload you want but I always wonder whats the point of a 7.5t Iveco Daily if the licensing requirements for it allow you to drive a real truck

I'm murrican but spent half of my life in Germany. I've worked for both German and Murrican car companies. They absolutely could make pickups it isn't as difficult as making turbo sports cars. You make it sound like it's difficult. It's because vans can haul shit where murricans are scared to put anything in the back for fear of theft. Taxes obviously. And the bigger point is that trucks suck ass to drive and are a bitch to maneuver around a parking lot made for hatches in a village of tight roads designed before automobiles.

The truck is the anti thesis of european vehicle philosophy. europeans don't like vehicles that last. they want things to be needlessly complex as a way to flex who has the most "advanced" car. look at this guy>>28516330 seething at a simple part that's cheap and works. if it doesn't have a $1000 jewel studded nigger bling strip its outdated and therefore icky.

Dependability, durability, and anything rugged = "trying to be manly" for europeans. if its not designed to be disposed of when the slightly newer version comes out its compensating.

it is difficult because a truck actually has to be robust, simple, and durable. europeans are allergic to these things and its actually harder to make something in that vein than a autotragic-only """sports""" car with a ticking time bomb turbo that'll cost you $10,000+tax+tip to service at your (((certified))) german dealer because no one else can work on it.

no they don't. there's a handful noteworthy european cars from the 60s and 70s (with rebuilt engines) that have, nothing made within the last 20 years. an american truck reaching a million miles is a dime a dozen. you can easily find american trucks still on american roads from the 80s. they aren't expensive rare classics. i could go down the street and take a picture of some. you can't do that in europe. old european cars by and large have vanished off the roads in europe outside of car shows.

Volvo couldn't survive making cars like this, so they had to change. they ditch their reliable method of building cars (the american way), and went all out on the nu-age of european car design. their brand identity changed from one of industrial to this pseudo luxury hipster aesthetic that they currently do. this made their reliability drop drastically but this is what europeans want. this is what makes volvo money. people would laugh at volvo if they dared make an engine that gets 60 HP per liter in the 21st century. even if its what their most reliable cars were.

It's more competing with the 335i as the Z4 has only 2 seats. The 335i is significantly faster and more masculine than the C70.

I'm pretty sure the reason vans are more common in Germany than trucks is because 90% of the time it's raining or about to rain. Oh and probably because they go actually crazy speeds on the Autobahn.

I spend my time inside the car rather than having the car inside me. Like the sexual partners I penetrate, I prefer them feminine.

>that is only noteworthy for a european car.
because in europe we have a limiting factor, which is rust. Why make a car that can last 1m kms if the chassis is going to have rotted away? It's rare to see cars over 20 years old here with out major structural issues.

The Ridgeline is the size of a half ton and it sells like shit. Why do you people think selling 50k or less of a vehicle a year makes the vehicle a raging success?
