Quick shoop I made of the 2007 maserati gran turismo, answering the question: what if they made a sports coupe instead of a grand tourer?
Gave it the approximate wheelbase of the rx-7 fd

lower and curvier beltline, longer rear overhang, shorter front overhang, MUCH longer money gap, shorter and more tear-shaped cabin, it's much lower and flatter than the maserati. look at the gap above the rear wheel.

based however the hood is too high and th efront overhang is retarded looking. maseratis are trash especially the new stellantis ones.

Latest try. Greatly shortened the wheelbase of RX-8, from 2,703mm (106.4 inches) to ~2,200mm (~86.6 inches), slightly shorter than the miata.
I tried making the roof more sloped which is I think you guys didn't like about the previous shoops.

I think we might have different approaches.
The first thing I do is to find where the rear wheel would rest if the car had a particular wheelbase I have in mind, and then I try to adapt the rest of the rear/mid body around it. Maybe the final result is not aesthetic to you (I understand).
The wheelbase I went for is between a Triumph TR5 and Lotus Elan. I'm not saying that makes it good, but that was the goal

Kei car version of the MB 190, with super high door sills a la 300SL.
The pointy door looks weird but I didn't know how else to resolve it.

Welp heres the V2
>coupe SWB
>>28523357
honestly this feels too short
unless you could lengthen the rear door bit more
maybe even add bit of metal between door and rear wheels to make it feel more natural and seem more like a proper coupe
maybe with longer midsection you could shorten the nose to keep overall length short

round out the rear of the roof edge or change the angle of the rear window to be a bit flatter

Ah, makes sense.
I made the car very short specifically so it'd fit in the kei car 3,400mm length limit regulation.
But it does look too short, almost like a toy.

here is the version with shorter nose i mentioned before
now im not sure if it still fits in kei car regulations but i feel this is closest to proper ish swb 190e we can get

here is even shorter wheel base model i made by cutting into boot and making 190e more of a hatchback.
basically to turn normal car into keicar you cant just remove midsection you need to fuck with other proportions like the bonnet
Anonymous No.28524140 >>28524202
>>28523661
That looks good! Very balanced.
It does, it's even shorter than strictly needed.
The wheelbase you gave it is 1978mm (77.87 inches) which is very short but would make for a fun car.
Anonymous No.28524202 >>28524351
>>28524140
i have no idea how you measure wheelbase
Anonymous No.28524351
>>28524202
Cross multiplication. It's not perfectly accurate.
I look up the official measure, get a side picture of a car, measure the distance from the wheel centers in pixels, calculate what a different wheelbase would be in pixels.
For example, for the 190 I had a length goal, so I looked the official length (4420mm), measured the total length of the car in the picture (1120 pixels), the kei car max length is 3400mm which in pixels would be 3400mm x 1120px / 4420mm = 862px.
Or for your wheelbase, the distance you gave it between the wheel centers is about 501 pixels: 501 x 4420 / 1120 ~= 1978mm. Very rough approximations. If we worked with very high resolution pictures it would be more accurate.

then at the same time why not make it rear engined aswell

also i do enjoy the nr2 opel omega edit though the door seems to be way to long and the window too sharp of an angle in the rear

front mounting the engine makes cooling a bit easier, and the handling a little less chaotic.
some RR cars have the spare tire up front to help balance things out.
>omega
its a nice shape
>door seems to be way to long
I figured this would help with access to the second row of seats / trunk.
maybe two door cars should not have back seats, although the RX8 works farely well.

>front mounting the engine makes cooling a bit easier
fair enough,
>its a nice shape
I do like omegas
>I figured this would help with access to the second
thats why its done but having a door thats entire midsection long on a car with rear seats does not look good imo
