i was thinking about buying a cheap piece of shit porsche like a used carrera or something, then tossing on some fender flares with wood screws and slapping a big rauh welt vinyl on the windshield. if i do this and park with all the porsches at the local cars and coffees do you think they will like me? i can also put a giant ebay turbo on it to make it faster than all the other ones if you think that will help.

Get a shitter 996, put an Audi V8 in it (belt-drive, not chain-drive, otherwise you're just swapping one ticking time bomb for another), and rice the fuck out of it however you want.
No one cares if you molest a base 996.

i wouldn't even wipe my ass with a 996. i'm thinking more like a 991, those are pretty old by this point and are cheap enough that you can cut em up without giving a shit.

You need to add stupidly wide wheels. Plus a few tubes of black silicone bathroom sealant

I donโ€™t think asphalt-based bitumen sealants ever fully cure, so it wouldnโ€™t crack but would remain slightly tacky. It would be harder to blend it by wiping with a finger, like the mad smoking nip

You'd think making slantnoses out of 996 would be commonplace by now.

The slantnose body kit alone is $17,000. By the time you've paid to have it fitted well by competent body people, then painted, you're probably talking about dumping $30k on a 996 just to have... this...

Yikes. In my mind it would be a more subtle job with working popup headlights. Line should align. Why is there an air intake that goes into the front of the tire lmao. That just looks like shit.

This is more what I had in mind. Shitty quick shoop didn't care about aligning things.
>C5 corvette headlights, was contemporary to the 996 so legality shouldn't be an issue.
>Decent turn signals integrated into the bumper, I used 997's but could be any that fit
>I was also going to say to take out the rear seats and move the engine further to the front... but you might as well use the 1st gen boxster at that point. Swap in a nice LS2...

Nice. I was actually looking at vw/audi engines right now. There's a โ‚ฌ6,000 986 with a blown motor about 500km from me but I have no garage space, and probably don't have the patience to actually carry the whole thing to term, really.

Most VW/Audi engines from that era will work. 1.8T is a great fit for the chassis, light, tuneable, and they put them in everything so they're dirt cheap.
For big power there's the 2.7TT, but you'll want to upgrade to a 6-speed transaxle from an S model Boxster/Cayman for that because a boosted to fuck 2.7TT will shred the stock 5-speed. It's also heavy.
The V8 is a really nice sweet spot of power (between 300 and 360hp out of the box), weight (all alu), simplicity (no turbos) and sound. I think it's also about the maximum the stock transaxle can handle.

They've gotten cheap enough that people can afford to simply fuck around with them, so when a VW mechanic figured out that making a 1.8T work in a Boxster wasn't actually all that complicated, all hell broke loose.
