I think that's mostly a 2.7 problem, the 2.3 is a solid motor. (Unless they somehow fucked it up on the 24+ and I haven't heard about it.)
I'm a little scared of the transmission in mine, that's the one thing that goes and I'm about to hit 70k, which is about when it'll happen if it does. Apparently it only really happens to 5-10% of them and mine isn't really showing signs but it still has me nervous.

Yes, before the fucking thing locks. It's relatively cheap to get it out and send it in for programming. Don't get it replaced with another ESL, just go emulator, there is no good reason for it otherwise. Once it gets stuck in closed position and motor dies, then getting that thing to unlock before you can remove it requires drilling it out, and it's really not fun.

I got burned so bad by Audi and Volvo I needed something practical, but I adore my pretty little Mazda3. 2018 GT so prior gen, 2.5l but no turbo. Would have loved a turbo but the interiors on the new gen are cramped and shitty. One of the most comfortable interiors of any car I've ever owned, and I've owned many. Everything's soft. The high end features are cool, mines fully loaded and has adaptive headlights that turn with the wheel, a fighter jet style HUD where a mechanical screen is raised with info displayed on it, including gps headings, paddle shifters, heated steering wheel, just cool shit. Only 30k miles, 1 prior owner, almost mint but paints very slightly wearing on the top, hoping she lives a good long life and I'll keep her clean as all fuck

What don't we like about these? I haven't driven any of the newer ones but I test drove a couple that I think were 2016 and thought they were great. I liked the interior leather stitching/design a lot, one that I drove had those seats that move when you enter or exit a car so it's easier to get into, and I drove one with the larger displacement 6 and one with the twin turbo 6 and both were fast as shit.
