I'm moving to the US in a few months time with my three kids. I'm looking for a good family SUV, so far I think I'll buy an explorer. I have about 20k to spend. Do you have any other SUVs you'd recommend at this price point

These and the Taho are based. You have to keep throwing reman autotragics at them but they will go forever. Even when the frame goes out the body is so yuge that it becomes a unibody SUV and they don't banana like the half ton pickups.

You could go with a 2500 with the mighty 4L80E and avoid the 4L60E. You just have to embrace the 12mpg.
