Boomer here.
We didnt really care about high boys.
We focused on lighter half tons. I mean sure they had a coolness factor but its just a set of front leafs and 4" blocks out back. The benefits of a divorced case was lost on 95% of people.
The high boys went out and died in the field with the forestry service or in mining pits.
Now those that survived are just another flavor of dent side. It doesnt matter which one it is, youre gonna pay out the ass for it and tip the seller afterwards. But thats the same for fat fenders and bull noses too. (For some reason tear drops dont get as much love and nobody gives a shit about style sides).

Ive checked prices just to see where my own collection stands and its absolutely retarded. Im sitting on $100k in yard art rust.

You can find some decent running ones if you look hard enough and keep an honest eye out. Rare ones would be the crew cabs. They are very aesthetic trucks but are getting old and have those issues that every old vehicle has.

>I know what I got.

But seriously, only 1 hasnt moved under its own power "recently". And it's a Ran When Parked.
And you dont give a shit anyways.
You cant afford it (pal) and dont have available parking for it in your apartment complex.

#1)
>1985 Bronco XLT (so power everything except mirrors)
>Las Vegas truck. Rust and accident free.
>351w (unknown miles donor, no leaks, no smoke, no ticks), edelbrock intake, holley 750dp (too big, just what I had on the shelf), Mustang shorty equal length chrome headers, dual exhaust, flow master 40 series.
>fresh C6 with red plates, 1800 stall converter.
>fresh NP205 transfer case.
>4:11 gears, Detroit trutrac torsen outback, locker up front. All new bearings, seals.
>100% new brakes, including lines.
>MSD 6AL controlling spark (was shitty early EEC-IV with electronic feedback carb).
>6" rough country lift (was brand new from a donor that never made it out of the garage)
>captains chairs
>factory push bumper
>deluxe two tone paint (blue/silver) with extra optional color matched shell (blue).
>crystal clear new windshield (with blue gradient strip) and new seal- drunk at the bar smashed the original wich was Starburst like a motherfucker after decades of sandblasting in the desert anyways) so he did me a favor.

I dont drive it because lol 9mpg.
But youre not going to pay what its worth either.
Do you just expect me to hand you the keys because after owning it, building it and driving it for 20 years I find myself behind the wheel of something else on a Tuesday?

Eat a dick.

Unironically new phone so no pics. But if this thread survives ill post something. Bronco is out at my hunting cabin (because it's the logical place for it) but its extremely hot and I need to drive out there and water my saplings at some point this week.

Wheel gap with 33s is a little much- i can stick my head (literally) in the fender well so pics are love it or hate it. Always planned on going to 35s+ but the Toyo's havent had enough wear to justify swapping them. But then the 32s on my Ranger are getting a little thin so maybe ill do some rotating.

And never buy Rough Country- their springs suck. Ive know this for 30 years but it was basically a free kit so I ran it.
They're a necessary evil- one of the only brands to still make lifts for some applications but for the love of God, if theres an alternative, take it.

If nobody is willing to pay "what it's worth" then it's not actually worth that. Also whatever you have had done to a car is irrelevant, cars aren't investments and you can't expect to sell it for more than you have spent on it.

>you will never get rid of
My grandparents bought this van brand new a decade before my birth and it was always there the entire time I was growing up, getting to ride around in it was always special to me.
It's mine now, and while my raggedy Crown Victoria is fun, the van is the one where selling it will never be an option.
So long as I still draw breath, the van will be there with me. Even if it burns to the ground, I'll get the shell dragged out back and see what I can do to get it moving again. Even if it's just some sort of freakish barebones off-roading rig.
Worst possible case scenario, I anchor it permanently on the property and turn it into some sort of building. Here's hoping it never comes to that though.

I thought I would want a 7.3 OBS. But I think I'm actually satisfied with my 351w F150. It's a 94 block so it should already have rollers. Just a matter of regearing it off 3.08 to a 3.73, maybe 4x4 convert it with parts off another F150 or Bronco. Single owner before me, pretty much rust free aside from the roof and hood. Don't really have any intentions of lifting or putting larger than stock size tires on it. Just want to get some mechanical refreshes and updates, maybe build out the engine a bit. Only has 118k miles on it, might be good for longer.

>le false equivalence
>I am very intelligent
Let's say your hypothetical well taken care of restored vehicle has a market value of $10k, let's call it Car A. Now let's say it cost $15k in parts and labor to fix up the one that was sitting in a swamp, Car B, thanks to extensive rust and basically every single thing besides the frame being a complete loss. Good, so now you have two cars of the same model in comparable conditions, Car A as we said before is valued at $10k, so how much is Car B valued at?
>w-well I spent $15k so-
Wrong. It's worth $10k. What you spent is irrelevant, what matters is how much the market will pay for one in that condition, if you spent more on restoring it than a good condition one is worth that's your problem. In the same line of though unmodded cars tend to be valued higher than modded ones, you can drop thousands tuning the shit of a Crown Vic and slapping some sikk bodykits on it, but that's more likely to make its value go down rather than up.

I understand your frustration.
But parts absolutely make a difference in sale price.
If you have vehicles A & B, both being fully operational but A is stock with a 2 barrel carb, open diffs, 5.5" wide factory wheels etc while B has aluminum intake, full exhaust, alloy wheels, locking diffs etc then yes, B will absolutely sell for much more than A.
Nowhere did I state that I would expect a sale price that matches the cost to build or equal the total on a box of receipts but it absolutely has more value than a stock truck.
Sure an ebay body kit will more than likely lower the value but thats not what were talking about here.

I don't care how unique the car is, I care how good it is as a car and how I myself like it, whether it's a one-off, or every second car on the road.

They're not very expensive to buy, just rare. Super sharp and very subtle body kit on it. Normally comes with bug looking headlights, i'd skip on them and just use normal ones like picrel.

already got both of my forever cars

86 e150 with the 302, nine inch rear axle, and 4 speed aod. I drive it daily as my work van

and the 01 gs300 with the naturally aspirated 2jz. have the car seat in it and the woman will drive it, if she drives at all

I'm gonna get the woman either a late 90s escalade, a bullnose or obs bronco, or an old land rover

I'm a firm believer in something good cheap, fixing it yourself, and keeping it forever. Why do I need anything more?
