Why? You're saying it's better to leave the badges on? What if I take the AWD badge off a WRX? Is that tacky too?
Anonymous No.28542582 [Report]
I removed the badges on my STi and replaced the stupid huge wing with a much lower profile one. But I guess that's kind of the opposite of debadging your car to trick people into thinking it's a higher trim model.
Anonymous No.28542586 [Report] >>28543053 >>28547594
>>28542573
No, because the WRX is AWD by design.
An M4 for example is not. You buy these cars to have a high powered RWD sports car. But zoomers can’t drive and are afraid of crashing, so they buy the xdrive version instead and then debadge it, and then tell people:
>yeah or course it’s RWD, or do you see an xdrive badge anywhere? I’m not a fucking pussy

Slapping ///M badges on them.
Worse yet, slapping one of those '''SPORTS MIND''' stickers on the hood without realizing that it's really just a sticker taken from a Suzuki kei car.
Adding ///M grille stripes is also worse as well.

I remember seeing an E60 M5 in a McDonalds drive thru late at night and decided to get a bit closer to hear it as it pulled away. Imagine my confusion and disgust as my ears were suddenly filled with that unmistakable diesel rattle as it slowly pulled forward to the next window. I ran the plate, and it came back as a fucking 520d. Genuinely shocking that someone would spend any amount of money making such a convincing clone rather than just putting it toward the actual car it's cloning.

Lots of store brand clothing lines make their logos deliberately hard to find, assuming they don't just forego a logo entirely.
BCG (Academy store brand) is like this with polo shirts that only have the logo on the inside of the collar, slacks that only have the logo on the tag, and regular shirts that only have the logo on the left hem.

Because I'm poor and can only afford 10+ year old cars. At that point taking the badges off is much harder, and you risk damaging the paint in the process. Plus, through a combination of the adhesive aging and the sun fading the area around the badge, even after removing it, there will always be a perfect little "ghost badge" left over. Debadging cars is something you can only really do on relatively new cars and since I can't afford those, I hate the people who can.

Sun fading is a consideration, but It's not hard. Eraser wheels exist. I debadged my 15 year old car no problem. Mine was garage kept, so no worries there. If very old, it can be different however. Some can be mounted on perforations and leave you with holes. I debadged my first car, and that involved welding and a respray. Wouldn't go through that if I weren't already planning a full paintjob.

From what I've read, modern AWD capable cars have some electronics on board to automatically switch to RWD when not needed to save fuel and wear on the axles. Or even manually.
