How much money do you need to buy a $100k car?
That is, how much money do you need to have so that $100k isn't a completely retarded amount of money to have in vehicles?

What about $200k?
What about $500k?

Based cash buyer.

Finance that and it'll cost way more, or you'll afford way less.

Ok, how much of my yearly income is reasonable to spend on a motorcycle? 1/3rd or 1/4th? I don't have too many expenses, I live at my mum's place and I'm saving it for buying a house in the future.

Motorcycles are dirt cheap compared to any car, just get a used cruiser/sport/adventure bike that your local reputable dealer recommends and don't look back

That's probably a good idea but most people won't ever do that. 10% in all your toys is a lot but more realistic.

People don't know what it's like to be that free.

New bikes can be $40,000, used cars can be $4000.

300 - 400k income with over 2mil in the bank

>>28546901
That would be a bit low if you have no income.

Basically the rule is 2-4 months of income on car cash. Rule applies to middle class, not so much outside of it.

So basically $120,000/year for a new base civic is ok-ish

It should be based on your projected retirement net worth and projected retirement date.
Obviously, thanks to compound interest, the further you are from retirement the more a large purchase delays that date. Whether that car is worth the extra time spent working is up to you. Remember to take into account maintenance costs.

10% is a good rule of thumb. All the usual stuff applies about savings and income.

Depends on the car. If you bought the most reliable Lexus Toyota makes that $100,000 is going to last a lot longer than if you throw it at a Maserati and hope for the best.

I know someone with a reported net worth of 500 million, but it's probably more based on the lifestyle he lives. He's constantly flying private to nice places and yachting, but he charters and doesn't own a plane or boat. Usually billionaires will own them instead of charter, I work with billionaires too and they're a whole rung up. Millionaires are mansion rich, multimillionaires are multiple mansions rich, but billionaires are estate rich. They own jets and cruise ship level yachts, floating fucking resort cities. It's insane.

The client I'm most familiar with, his most expensive car is $650k. He owns 6 total, I don't think any are under 100k except one that's just a big SUV done up like a limo in the back. Think secret service type vehicle. He doesn't drive any of these, haven't seen him ever drive himself once, always driven by an armed guard. I can't say what any of the vehicles are because of NDAs, like if I just listed all the vehicles the guy owns someone might be able to discern who he is.

Beach and lake front properties too, they buy all those up. Most massive, prime location beachfront properties aren't even occupied. These rich fucks buy them and visit once or twice a year, mostly staying at the estate which is like a fully staffed resort. Same with their cars, they can't even get around to actually driving them. They get used to being chauffeured around. I shit you not, out of those 6 cars not one except the main chauffeur vehicle has over 500 miles. Every year he swaps them out for the newest model. Not even done by him, he just tells the estate manager what he likes and to keep everything new, cars just show up on a delivery truck and the other one goes away. Disgustingly wasteful life, I think if all normies saw what I'm seeing they'd rebel. You grind for fucking nothing while ruthless corporatists and nepotism babies have everything.

I just watched a zoomer wannabe tiktok star high on Adderall, currently in debt on a BMW, agree to finance a Mercedes GLE63 at $1380 / month for 84 months. He put $5k down. He'll end up paying over $110k for a $75k car that won't be worth $30k by the time he's done paying it off.

So whatever you do OP, at least you aren't THAT guy.
