I'd give my left nut for a grand prix that didn't have its roof rotted off. Vinyl tops and their concequences have been a disaster for the classic car scene.

First order of business with one of these would be to rip that shit off and redo the top with paint
I'd personally try leaving it at 1000 grit to see if I could get the matte effect of the original vinyl

I've seen moderate success with people using bed liner but that's very much an eye of the beholder deal. If you're feeling extra schizo you can take the trailer trash approach and kick the roof off and turn it into a convertible, but nobody is going to take the time to do that and have the rain solution not be a tarp or a garage.
