Had a final ride out today, the third I've done and second of the year. I don't think I'll ever be at one bigger than this with over 120 bikes. It's quite a surreal feeling having so many people come together for one person, some who wouldn't have even known that person, united by the fact they all ride.

I have ridden through heavy storms and trust me it can always be worse.
Probably should leave some tips.
1. Don't use a hairdryer on gear as you can crack and destroy the material.
Drying leather jacket you just have to bane it and wear it in a warm environment. Boots, newspaper will suck all the water out.
2nd tip, next time have a change of clothes in a waterproof bag to wear after getting wet it improves morale soo much.

Just got back from riding with a friend & his MT07. He bought a whole headerback exhaust. Doesn't sound bad, a bit loud. Last time we rode he was still in break in & not as experienced, I didn't have to wait up so much this time. Enjoyable ride, nice day.

I liked the looks of my Guzzi, but riding it just feels like nothing, doesn't spark any joy or emotion on me for some reason, whereas just kickstarting my Ural or Izh brings immense feel of euphoria for some reason.
Cue in next month if I manage to grab the MZ/Tenere and I end up hating it too.

Heavy and too fast. Too many riders forget what it was like to be a noob. Riding is a skill and if you want to get good at it, get something under 500 lbs and under 600cc first. I started on a CBR600 and kinda wish I didn't. Definitely delayed my skill progression. If you want a cruiser sort and want to buy new(don't), Kawasaki Eliminator would be good.

if youve never even been on a bike before, i'd say dont even think about it
if youve got like a year riding, find a modern one with a rain mode (if they even offer than) and you can baby yourself with that
but dont buy an older one if thats the case

I'm about an inch shorter but I've got the same proportion issue. The TU is probably fine, it's a pretty upright motorcycle. If you're interested in other options I'd seriously consider a smaller dual sport though. I ride a KLX300, it's pretty comfortable for me (though a little cramped in the legs for long rides) and I can get both feet solidly down, and if you do need higher/closer bars that's an affordable and very common upgrade on dual sports.

The R7 is totaled. Thought I could manage in rain, ended up losing control on one of the turns, bailed and slid for what felt like forever into a tree. Luckily had gear on since I didn't want to get wet anyway. R7 managed to thread the needle and went sliding down the hill and smashed into quite a bit. Police straight up told me that thing is as good as gone and that I got lucky. Gotta work through shit now with my insurance to see if they'll cover the recovery of it.
