Measured how? If you're such a fucking broke nigger you can't buy a k&n, why should we believe you you can measure your intake air temp?
Cold air intakes very rarely do anything but make you look like a clueless trend following faggot.

Cool, but you need actual before and after metrics. You can make huge improvements on air, fuel, and spark and realize it makes no meaningful difference on output because it turns out it doesn't really matter.

you have a $2000 datalogging device but couldn't afford an off the shelf CAI?

good thing I have actual air filters that work.
>>28549879
It’s not about affording it. This retarded cooling setup won’t work with any off the shelf CAI. So I’d have to replace the radiator, intercooler, intakes, and who knows wtf else. So instead of doing all that, I thought first I’d see if I can do something myself to improve temps.
Anonymous No.28550289

Autoexe makes a good one. So does Knight Sports. There’s a retro one on ebay for $200 that would work, etc. Like I said, the problem isn’t cost, it’s:
>is it worth replacing everything behind the front bumper to lower temps
vs
>is there a simpler way to achieve this?
DIY seems to be effective enough. The autoexe intake MIGHT fit, but then again it probably won’t.

As you can see, that pettit setup has a stock intercooler and probably a stock radiator. My car has an aftermarket FMIC and an aftermarket radiator, both of which take up more space in that area.

is your car like crash damaged and they didn't straighten the front sheet metal correctly or something? Is that how a chan poster could afford an FD in the year of our moot 2025?

It's an FD, the answer is yes. Lowering temps is the single most important modification to do for it. You make it run cool, you make it reliable (relatively speaking), first. Then do your hotboi mods for the Instagram

I just have an old laptop with free datalogging and tuning software (picrel, the romraider and ecuflash combo).
>air intake temps drop 18C
I don't believe your story at all, however. There's no way your temps dropped 65F in the same use case / duty cycle. And especially not temps after the turbos. I could see you getting this difference measuring the orig after heat soak and the new one right after a cold start, but this is bullshit and you know it. I could maybe see temps before the turbos dropping 1-3C.

So i was the pedantic idiot in the other thread, didnt realize this was RX7 anon and his bullshit.

>>28550985
IF he has been able to move the point of intake mouth out of the engine bay, such as ahead of the radiator or in the foglights, I can see a 10-12C peak drop being realistic. If all he's done is shroud the filters and extend the "box" away from the engine then yeah it's still mixing radiator exhaust with whatever else it picks up.

Does an FD even have enough of a hood>bumper gap to make a modern style intake opening? Because OP that's what I'd do if routing to the fog lights is a problem or an aesthetic no go.

Me? I do it to make 4-cylinders sound deep when I'm on 30+% throttle while keeping the cruising noise mostly the same. I don't like messing w/ exhaust unless it will actually net me power.
Those turbos and pistons going down are gonna suck air through just about anything.
Moving your filter location isn't going to make the turbos cooler once it's at operating temp and moving.
