I hear you're not supposed to jump off a motorcycle with a running car because of the circuit differences between an alternator and a stator, but aren't they basically the same thing? Alternating current, except regulator and rectifier on the motorcycle is external, though that shouldn't make a difference, or so I would think.

You could jump it off with a non running car, though, right?

Had one gifted to me recently and it's changed my riding habits. Now,
>all pants are on the table when riding
>no fear of my cheeks being claimed by the pavement because I decided to wear something more breathable on a hot day
>makes longer rides more comfortable
A little annoying if you wear tight pants, but I don't. The hard plastic parts also require perfect position to ensure nothing is digging into your rearend, but once you positioned it all falls into place.

I like that the bars don't have clusters on them.
>>28550628
>Fuel gauge is the big one
There is a seperate fuel gauge to the left of the main instrument cluster. It has a ohysical needle and a light to see it. The fuel tank is 5.5 gallons, so you don't need to look at it often anyway, and if you forget a bright yellow light pops up on the main cluster when you have aprox 50 miles of gas left. If you need a range estimation you can cycle the LCD with a trigger button on the left handlebar control, which I almost never do. I mostly use my LCD for its clock, which is really low priority.

12V DC is 12V DC, a car uses a 12V battery and so does a motorcycle. It'll be fine.
Maybe the Charing circuit for a car could damage a motorcycle battery, so I'd just do it with the car off. If a car battery can crank a car then it's more than capable of cranking a bike.

I was about to say Honda should release production ready dakar baiks, but I think they already do. CRF450RL or the great RMZ450. But not the kinda bikes I want to be on, I want a bit more comfy wide seat, twins, because less vibes and stuff and a motor that doesn't need to be serviced for 10k km.

F450GS is looking better by the day. If EU didn't handicap them with A2, we would've had replacement for, IMO the mighty T7.

i am a big fan of the rally factory bikes like KTM makes them etc, but the problem with thos eis that on road is absolute shit, and travelling around on them on anything thats not offroad is shit.
i recently saw a video of a guy who had a husqvarna 450 enduro and changed it for a honda crf300 because he says riding on roads with the 450 is such a pain in the ass.

i personally am looking more and more into the tenere 700, even though i just bought a bike recently.

>Yeah, by T7 I mean the tenere 700. I think its one of the best bikes around,
It is, it sells itself, I see them all the time in europe I see one in my garage every day, they're perfect for our poorly maintained curved mountain roads. Not too small where you're reving the shit out of it on the motorway, not too big so you can use the whole engine just getting around, big front wheel to go over ruts in the road and the suspension travel to have it not kick your spine.
>but the yamaha troons are fixated on selling R7 and R9s.
They axed the R6 and R1, they have to make up the money those bikes brought in somehow, it's just business.
>I'd like something a bit lighter weight. I think 450cc ADVs are going to be like the modern day super cub.
I don't think so, they weigh as much as traditional middleweight at about 200kg fully fueled, but with half the horsepower so they can squeeze into that A2 market. The supercub was light, cheap and simple, current day A2 adventure bikes are really pushing the definition of cheap and that was that was their bike selling point.

Only use non-running cars because the feeble wittle bike regulator may attempt to regulate the current supplied by the cars charging system. There is no reason to run the car since if the bike doesn't promptly crank further troubleshooting is required.

12 volts is the nominal voltage but any battery sitting at 12volts is discharged. Resting voltage is determined by the battery not the motorcycle and given the variety of modern batteries it is unwise to assume anything so I don't.

I'm going moto camping this weekend and because I'm a cheap bastard I'm going to be using my old sleeping bag I've had for nearly 15 years. Current forecast says it will only get down to 2Β°C over night so I should be okay, but to be safe I'm bringing a really warm fleece blanket and I'll put some bottles of hot water in my bag before I sleep.

Well, oem says 1000km for oil and filter
Ive also done this trip before last year and the only casualty then was a rear tire being flattened out in the middle and needing to replace sprockets and chain
This time around, i did probably double the grand total distance; about 10 days bush riding - and with like 60-70lbs overloaded rear suspension with gear n shit
Im honestly suprized in retrospect that the crf450rl survived this long abusing it the way that i did, this trip yesterday was around 800km highway, but grand total mileage for this trip has to be upwards of 3500km
I shoulsve died 4 times during picrel, those roada were brutal- let alone my bike kept chuckin even after that
Its all good though, at this point ive realized the crf450rl cant do ehat i want it to do without a support package like a truck or van or trailer with tools
Treat it how it was designed, not absurd stress tests to the moment of failure
Either that or daily it as a sumo and respect the intervals can work, that way not far from home base
Shoomersβ„’ No.28552792
>>28552768
Also calculates the grand total for the shoomer extravaganza, and that plus detours and adventure roads probably puts me at or around 3,300-3500km grand total for this trip
And majority of those being highways, when i was highway sustained at 120-150kph and overloaded bloated baggages

So i mean if you take away all that, use it for what it was purpose built for fuck sakes, and stop tryna make it into a bagger daddy; this whole situations pretty exacerbated for what its worth- crf did a good job tolerating my burdensome ass, and the mountain passes and grades let alone the steep unforgiving trails were aloooot to put this fucker through

All my other inconveniences ans problems are minor compared to the current issue, save the crackhead incident which was potential for a write off before i fuckin found it
But anyways, i rode an enduro for almost 12,000km trouble free in essence, so im still quite happy as far as reliability factors into muh neglect and bad luck riders club evidently
Lesson learned / if i could go back in time what differently: i wouldve just bought a pigfat adventure bike like tennyfren or even pan america/super tenny if more highway and just accepted the lack of enduro dirt riding experiences and accepted its more highways
And also disregarding that scenario is also not learn the hardway and just compliment q dedicated travel package like truck or van with the crf as thats much more comf without the weight baggage and packing limitations on tiny baik
