This. I just want a practical car that looks like a practical car. We used to have those. Now they're impossible to fine.
Even the most basic cars go for the angular sporty look and that's just stupid when it's being powered by some 78hp 3 cylinder engine.

Practically every manufacturer had one small car, one hatchback, sedan, station wagon, minivan... You could always choose something according to your taste and needs. Now? SUV upon SUV on SUV. Without buttons, with screens, with poor materials and tack af

I bought a 2026 Civic and it's practical with physical knobs and buttons for everything. Even the radio in can be operated without ever touching the screen except for station presets. Everything feels solid and doesn't squeak or rattle.

This. Most practical car currently on the market and also the cheapest new car in the US.
Real gauges, manual transmission with a real hand brake, non-sporty styling, no tacky ipad in the way of the windshield, great MPG and plenty of space. It's simply the creme de la creme of practicality in 2025.

I hate this new styling but "sporty looks on an unspecial car" has been a tried-and-true recipe for ages.

Yeah, I've thought about replacing it with a single din radio so it'd fit into the dash better, but nobody makes conversion kits for it. Honda could've reduced the bezels on it by like 50% and it'd at least have been a lot lower, but I think they wanted it to match the height of the gauge cluster hump.

It's not like a car with any efficiency really needs that thing unless you're racing it on a track in the heat of the devil's rectum.
Above a certain latitude, your engine will likely run better around the year if you just block the fucking cheese grater with cardboard or something.

If your car actually needs a grille-ful of air, you're either hooning it like a tard or its engine is actually some kind of heating device that accidentally generates some mechanical power due to its designers being confused about what they were making.

Mercedes have been doing these massive light up grilles for a long time, called Mercedes-Benz Illuminated Star. They even sold official retrofit kits.

>The Mercedes-Benz illuminated star doesnโ€™t not come standard on Mercedes-Benz vehicles, but it is an available accessory that you can easily get installed. It is also available in on some models when you opt for the Sport Package. This package gives you the option of an illuminated star on the front grille. It can also be added as a stand-alone option and can be installed on any Mercedes-Benz vehicle that was produced after 2013, unless the model is equipped with DISTRONICยฎ or DISTRONIC PLUSยฎ driver assistance. This is because the front grille space is needed for the systemโ€™s cameras and radars.

Like most things, it depends. Older Mercedes are generally more pricey to keep going than BMWs in my experience. Dealer prices can be beyond insane too, I've bought parts directly for pretty much nothing and then the labor quote is something like $150/hour, so I usually just take the part and do it myself (or get an indie shop to do it if its something I don't have the tools for)..
