I'm in a well developed area and they squeezed in a subdivision in the last undeveloped parcel and the rich people with homes surrounding the nearby lake sued with their hired engineers saying the new development would result in more water diverting to the lake causing the rich people's homes to be flooded

engineers for the development said that wouldn't happen. the county approved the new development and the judge dismissed the case

the new development indeed caused flooding and my county had to pay up big bucks to fix it because the developer declared bankruptcy
