There are a LOT of retarded drivers on the road but I'd definitely say most biker crashes are either self-inflicted as in the case of the OP or contributed to nearly equally, i.e. negligence leading to an entirely avoidable crash even if not nominally/legally "at fault" for it. Too many cases of people that would rather honk and continue at the same speed in a straight line and crash than evade or brake to avoid it entirely and honk or road rage after the immediate danger has been avoided, as if asserting right of way real or perceived will somehow reverse causality.
