/o/ opinions on haggling and "no-haggle" dealerships
I am looking at a 2 seater convertible sports car, it is at a no haggle dealership one state over, it has been sitting on their lot since May, they claim the price is firm and they have "one price". How true is that actually that they won't negotiate? They have already lowered the price of the car 5,000 dollars since May when it was listed. Also what are the opinions on haggling vs no-haggle, I'm getting fleeced if I go to a no-haggle right?

I more or less have, I told them my price, they want 30k, I told them I'd give them 26k which is in line for market price of similar vehicles. I'm not worried, it is a big market especially with fall/winter on the way.

If they're firm on the price, you could ask them to sweeten the deal by upgrading the car (e.g. better tires, new suspension/shocks, replacing all the fluids with stuff that you'd put in yourself, including warranty in OTD price)

I could, what is the best way to ask? I assume i have a a lot of negotiating power here as the car has sat for so long and i could just let them go, i don't need this specific car and i think my negotiating power only goes up as Fall approaches.

I am looking at two actually, both are no haggle bullshit. One is a 2015 V8 Jaguar F type 90k miles, the other is a 2015 V6S Jaguar F-type (this one is priced at 25k and I offered 23k and has 35k miles). Why are these fucking no-haggle dealership so common these days, maybe I should just buy something at auction.

Get a mechanic to quote you the theoretical price of doing what you'd like to the car, then bring it to them while also mentioning other, similar cars that are on the market for less. Any reputable dealership can get parts for cheap and is partnered with a shop that basically does work for them for free, so a reasonable dealer would happily do the work for you. They'd probably even save you time + money compared to buying the cheaper car and doing everything yourself.
Of course, if they refuse and only want to sell the car as-is then just leave like plenty of other prospective buyers doubtlessly have

The problem is i would be traveling around 200 miles to buy the car, this isn't exactly local to me. Is there anything that is fast to do but would offer a lot of value?

When considering recommended retail price and zero accessories and zero finance, there's not a lot of margin in cars anymore.

You'll only get a good price if the dealer wants to physically move on old stock that isn't selling well

It's not the 80s anymore

Brother, sounds like you are yearning for the car. There's likely several others that would snap up the car at a lower price, hence the dealer being firm. The dealer doesn't want to deal with tyre kickers wasting his time with talk.
He's probably sick of Indians and Mexicans and Jews taking hours of his time per day "testing" the car, negotiating a deal, then backing out. His time is valuable, too.

Perhaps he had plenty of space and finance to hold onto the car. Either you stump up the difference or jump onto a listing in the private market

>Brother, sounds like you are yearning for the car
Meh, I am take it or leave it to be honest. I will probably end up going to more auctions to try for a better price, there are tons of options and I am very flexible on location. Since I can do the work myself and I am not in any rush why should I let them bend a greasy 5-7k profit on me when they could be reasonable and take 3k. If they call me back and accept my offer, I'm more than happy to honor my word.

>When considering recommended retail price and zero accessories and zero finance, there's not a lot of margin in cars anymore.
Just take it up the ass so you get your commission, right dealeranon? Anyone that has been on the consumer side of a car trade-in knows how much profit dealers take in on flipping trade ins, I'd believe the margins these days are tight on new though.

If they accepted my offer, I almost certainly would have pulled the trigger and bought, not my fault they ask for significantly more than market on the car, I don't blame them for trying to make a profit but I am patient and obviously interested in getting a good value, with both of those cars they would be profiting more than a car sitting on the lot for three more months until they auction it off in December for 19k.

It is if I am just driving or for leisure until I have to spend of bunch of the day with the car in the shop and have a 3-4 drive at the end of it.

I'm sure many people would happily call you a retard for wanting a used jag, but only the german brands have dedicated haters actively scanning every thread looking for opportunities to make their next brainrot post. If it was a VW/Audi you were shopping for, then it'd have absolutely been wise to keep that to yourself.
