So would this actually increase power since the intake is directly behind the grill? Or is it still useless?
Anonymous No.28556365 >>28556371
>>28556363 (OP)
it'll make a cool sucking sound but not likely to affect power or intake temps since the intake already pulls air from that area

The things wrenchlets do for a +2hp increase because they're too retarded to put a turbo on their car....

not really, no, because >>28556365

you're better off spending the money on test pipes if you can get away with it, and just getting a proper tune

Well turbo or supercharger kits are like $5-7k and require a tune up

personally I think installing them just for the increased induction noise is perfectly reasonable, but dont expect any power increase unless you already have a bunch of other airflow mods and get a tune

Yes, but it'll only get you single digit hp gains compared to stock and only with a tune. Still highly worth it when paired with an exhaust since they have a multiplicative effect and don't affect reliability unlike FI

Intake by itself will likely not give you much power. You need more mods which the intake is only a small part of.
If you're looking to increase performance, tires and weight will make a much bigger difference.
Also reliability and gas mileage won't suffer.

If you get multiple hp-increasing mods, the total gains will be slightly more than the sum of gains from doing each one individually.
Say you're swapping cams, headers, and intakes. Only doing one of the three might get you 7 hp with a tune for a given setup, but doing all three could get you 30.
This works significantly better when paired with an FI setup (aftermarket turbos or higher psi tune), because the huge hp gains from a big job like that could double or triple the gains from.each smaller performance upgrade

More like a 2hp decrease. The 10 feet of metal piping is only going to attract heat into your intake. Warm air intakes are a ricer meme.
Anonymous No.28558938
>>28558831
I think you have a poor understanding of heat transfer and air velocity if you believe the piping will have a significant effect on the temperature of the air inside, but I agree it's not going to be a noticeable improvement.

>no heat wrap around the turbo manifold or any kind of heat management for being so close to the motor whatsoever
Everyone knows that China turbos have very low build quality which also means very low heat tolerances/heat cycles. I've seen more cracked housings from cheap turbos than cheap eBay headers. Your "haha just butcher your headers and wack on a $50 turbo bro haha so epic and funny!!" advice is unironically worse than buying that meme intake.

people shit on custom intake tubing but it really is good for 8 horsepower
the problem however is that was compared to an open element air cleaner like from the 1960s,
it was an improvement to route the intake out of the engine bay usually THROUGH the fender aprons.
all modern cars have a fucking airbox which more or less does that from the factory so it's not really gaining fuck all in new cars and you're just clowning and pissing off money.
this was an improvement done on sports cars in the 1970s to put tubing and ducting but now it means nothing, you gain nothing and you look like a fag, but what's worse is when shitfaces route these and it's pulling hot air from the engine compartment and it's basically spending money to look like a fag but also make 1960s horsepower loss.

I've thought about routing some ducting from behind the headlights in my old barge to go right up to the air cleaner snorkel to hopefully deliver cooler air, although at the moment that's a bit of an issue because the air cleaner's base plate has about a 1 inch gap all around because it's an aftermarket piece with the original (much larger) cover on top of it.
Anonymous No.28559639
>>28558980
Kek. It's a cheap low poeer ebay turbo builds it doesn't need any form of heat shielding whatsoever. Even high power big turbo builds don't need it either, unless the turbo is right next to the brake master.
Also heatwrap on manifolds is fake and gay.

I used to have a chink turbo which was laggy as hell but at least it didn't blow up. I wouldn't put one on an engine I care about though.
Anonymous No.28559805
>>28559741
hint: pick a turbo which is for a popular model of engine, like SR20 GT28 if you have small 4 cylinder, because they've been selling so many of them for such a long time that even the chinks have probably worked it out by now.
If you go with an oddball turbo - who knows if the lazy chinks have even come close to speccing the correct housing and wheel sizes to get the right relationship between turbine and compressor.
