Redpill me on the series 2 Elsie. I've gotten to the point financially where I'm going to start saving up for a second car, and this is one of my dream cars. I daily drive a manual car, but if I bought this, it would be my first sports car. What do you guys think? What should I look out for?

I don't get why you would ask /o/ about this. /o/ is 90% sour grapes fwd cuckbox drivers who don't know shit about anything. If you bought this you would be blazing a new trail. I'd buy it

buy a real race car. Why would you buy something as stripped down as a lotus? Especially now that they're chink owned and you'll never get parts. Typically it would be:
>a.) too poor to afford a daily driver + a track car (this is actually cheaper than buying a do-it-all track car)
>b.) so you can race it all the time (in which case, just get an open wheel car, go faster, have more fun, and save more money)
it's also hideous btw.

The reality is you probably can’t afford to fix it.

They're cool as shit
At my first job as a detailer my boss had one and I got to detail it and drive it a little
It's basically an mr2 but cranked up to 11

There's a guy I pass every single morning on my way into work, and he's always driving a light blue S3 Elise, so I assume that's his daily. I also vaguely remember the Anon who has an Aston Martin Rapide mentioning that he knows a guy who dailies an Elise. They're good cars, just extremely spartan. I'd go for it, especially if it's one of your dream cars.

this sounds like a stretch.
I'd say you should just get a miata.
and i'm not even trying to be a dickhead about it.

The Elise is better at most miata things than a miata is.

It surprised me just how small those things are irl.

Simplify and add lightness.
Colin must be livid.

they're also glued together. there's more to a car than just the engine.

Coupes (ACTUAL two seaters, not posers with a backseat) have 10-20 percent shorter wheelbases than comparable coupes, of course they're gonna look smaller IRL

It's good. Look out for crash damage by previous owners. Try to find one that hasn't been extensively track thrashed.

Fuck the current SUV trend. Fuck women and cucks, and may their incessant chase after "status" send them over a cliff.

just get one and if you dont like it sell it again. they dont really depreciate. make sure that you can actually fit in it. i am 190cm and cant properly sit in one for more than 2 hours. toyota engined cars are more expensive but more reliable and parts are really common. make sure the large gfrp clamshells are without damage. replacements can easily go for 10k for the front hood. another point is the bonded aluminium chassis, usually it holds up and doesnt damage with age BUT crash damage is impossible to repair. if you see cracks in the chassis and especially on the suspension mounting points the car might aswell be totaled.

Great car, full stop. Owned one for 2 years, and don't have much bad to say about it. The only thing I would add is that it kind of sucks to end up in traffic, so I may avoid it if you live in a city

The way they're built, a lot of damage isn't 'reasonably repaired' due to it being glued together composites, so if you do find a cheap one that's had some bonks, particularly underneath its just not worth the money and effectively a parts car.
Anonymous No.28561345 [Report]
If it's anything like the mr2s I'd go for it.

the time to have gotten one was before 2020 before they shot up in price from where they were all $30k
at this point with their price just look for an Exige (S if you can) or Evora if you want something slightly more dailyable
also get good insurance on it because in many cases it's considered totaled if you so much as even crack the fiberclass clamshell
