I was referring to the NC1 NSX, not the NA1/2. FC3 is the 10th gen coupe, the 8th gen Si was a coupe initially, and of the cars I listed only 2 are outright sedans (FD2 and CL7). Everything else is either a 5 door hatchback or coupe/roadster.

Trying to decide if I should buy this 8th gen Accord 2.2 DTEC
The car itself is a 2012 Honda Accord Tourer. It's the 8th gen (CW) "Euro Accord" body. 2.2 D-TEC Diesel, 150 hp, 5 Speed Automatic. It's listed for €6900
I'm mostly worried about getting it since, despite being quite clean optically, it has 234.360 km on the clock. It's 1st owner, full service history at Honda ("no gaps"). Not only that, but it got new injectors 2 years ago at 214.268 km.
I didn't find any decent documentation of issues these cars have. People mostly mention small things which aren't catastrophic. I couldn't find anything about the engine in terms of issues outside that it needs a regular service (same for the gearbox).
The car is about 4 hours away, so before I take the tour to inspect it further, I want to know if there's anything catastrophic these cars are known for.
I hope this is the right place to ask, and thanks in advance.

I just sold my manual 97 Sn95 Mustang GT
And now I need an auto daily driver so I can drive in this cramped city to work and rush hour, but also would like it peppy enough to enjoy on the twisty mountain roads on the weekends

Ideally I'd grab a 350z/g35 but it's out of my budget rn

So for a cheap fun D.D that's not bad on gas and sporty I was thinking an auto:
- 5th Gen Prelude (200hp)

-4th Gen Prelude (ideally the vtec trim but most likely the Si 160hp is all ill find)

- Base RSX (160hp) same engine as the EP3 Si

- CG2 accord coupe v6 (200hp & 190Trq)

-7th Gen Celica GT (ideally GT-S trim but most likely all I'll find is GT trims 140hp)

-5th Gen Celica GT-S (130hp)

So my Honda GangGang what yall think would make the most fun Autotragic Daily Driver for work in a mega steep hilly City in the PNW that i could enjoy a bit driving the twisty West Coast & Mountain Roads??

It might come close or match it if the torque converter goes into lockup, I don't know the speed it takes when cruising to make it lock but when accelerating the 5AT at WOT, you get to 100 mph, the rpm stays the same but the car keeps accelerating, it's the most unusual feeling but I guess it works.

>>28571575
yes, only if you drive patiently enough to keep the TC in lockup. at that point the AT logic would be lugging the hell out of the engine.
wish someone would make a tune for ATs that kept it in lockup as much as possible, because the torque converter absolutely sucks ass
>going up hill on interstate
>prod the throttle to make it downshift
>instead of downshifting, it unlocks the converter
>rpm goes up by 1000 but you feel like you're accelerating even less bc of the torque converter loss

Anonymous No.28571691

Somebody really needs to make a trans tune for TSXs and CMs because these motherfuckers love to just lug on a steep uphill, I'm often stuck going 60 mph with light throttle on the freeway uphill in 5th gear when 4th gear would be ideal, at least TSX owners can slap the shifter to the side and manually put it in 4th, a CM you can only select 1 2 or D3 which are great, but then you're revving the tits off it to go 80 mph in 3rd

I went from the OEM FK7 bar to the Si one and it's more neutral than anything. It's a mild increase from 16.5mm to 18mm, the Type R bar would also fit but that's a 20.5mm bar and I don't want to be too tail-happy

It's because people wouldn't buy it Anon, they were incredibly expensive when new in 2000 (literally 60 grand in today's money for a roadster), that's a very hard purchase to justify, especially when it's hard enough selling an FL5 Civic Type R for $47,000 or whatever they're going for, and those things are usable enough for your daily drive and it's still not a huge volume of them rolling around.

they really should just make a honda-flavored miata. no supercar shit like in the s2k, just RWD with "an" engine, stiff chassis and a 6 speed manual. Honda is so skilled at suspension design that it can't-not be good.
Anonymous No.28571746

It takes a lot of money for for Honda to design a platform to build cars Anon, the last thing Honda wants to due is spend a bunch of money on a roadster that isn't gonna be a volume car, they're trying to sell things, the MX-5 and CX crossovers are Mazdas bread and butter, those things never sit around on dealerships, meanwhile Honda has no problem selling the fuck out of the Civic platform as well as the CR-V/Accord platform they both ride on, they can't lose money and the price is reasonable because they pump em out by the thousands a month (literally over 20,000 Civics leave Ohio a month), but making a RWD sport coupe or a convertible would mean engineering a whole new car from scratch means the thing cannot ever be sold cheap enough no matter how reasonable the car is because they need to recoup R&D costs.

are the hybrid fit / jazz models good?

Anonymous No.28581303
My gfs 09 fit is finally in a good state
We've done:
Coilovers, control arms, cv axles, swaybar links, tie rods, brakes all around, exhaust hangers, engine oil, tranny fluid, replaced the clutch master and slave with parts from a civic si with a stainless braided line tying them together, cabin and engine air filter, replaced her AC compressor clutch because she got a recharge that didn't fix anything and I didn't want to deal with getting it purged to replace the OEM compressor for some shitty chink one. A shop quoted 1200 bucks to do the compressor, and I did it for 80 bucks in parts and 90 bucks in tools (she bought me a pulley puller set and icon snap ring pliers set, good deal)
AC works like a charm now.
Only other things on the to do list are: aftermarket exhaust (probably yonaka), new wheels, good tires, and a full respray. Planning on getting a 60gal compressor next year when I have more space and doing some pink sparkly bullshit. Might do a custom widebody because of a few spots of wheel well rust on one corner, idk

Honestly anon, those 2.0t/3.0t TLXs rip so hard, you're probably wasting powertrain torque fucking around dipping a clutch and moving a stupid shifter around, the 10AT bangs gears so fucking fast and you have 10 forward ratios so close to each other, any torque converter loss is just minimal, it's the same reason your dad got the CVT Integra, the engine does so much work at 1800rpm to 5500 rpm when it comes to torqueing around down, you don't need to have a manual transmission to wring it out like back in the day.

- Block: doesn't have to be an L15B7 one specifically, they're all identical from 2017 onwards (p/n is 11000-59B-010). The alternator mounting location was changed then, so if you get a later block it'll be fine.
- Head: got two options, twinscroll or single port. Former has exhaust VTEC and builds boost earlier, latter lacks VTEC and is better for peak power.
- Crankshaft: OEM one is fine, more rod options are available for the L15B crank vs the L15C (small vs larger journal size)
- Pistons: OEM has 2 options, 10.3:1 and 10.6:1 compression ratios. Former has an internal oil channel and 1 squirter, latter lacks the internal channel and has 2 squirters. JE Pistons, Wiseco, and Traum all make forged 2816 aluminum pistons, all in the 10 to 10.6:1 range. If the block is new, go for a 73mm bore; if old or has scuffs in the bores go for 73.5mm
- Connecting rods: go for Brian Crower, Saenz, or Carrillo, block will need to be notched further to clear them.
- Oil pump/pan: OEM pump gears are trash, upgrade to a proper billet one from Boundary if you want to make good power. Oil pan can use a baffle or get one with it already welded in.
- Valvetrain: Intake cams are identical between the two heads, Si/Accord/CR-V cam has more lift on the HPFP lobe. For the exhaust cam go for one from Kelford, they and Brian Crower have upgraded valvesprings/retainers available. Twinscroll head has no options beyond OEM.
- Head studs/gasket: Two Step Performance has a kit from ARP, Optitorque has one as well. Hayabusa head studs are an option but they have to be installed backwards. OEM gasket is fine.
- Valves: only option is from Ferrea, they're very good.
Head porting is an option, but not entirely necessary.

I found a GD3 sport trim manual Fit near me for 900$ with 120,000 miles on it. No rust except a small patch rear quarter panel, needs an o2 sensor, and here’s the rub: the electric power steering is glitchy, the second the car is on, even with the wheels off the ground, the steering wheel turns all the way to the left.
He has replaced the rack, replace the eps module, and tried a pine 4 and 9 jump to reprogram things. These have not worked.
According to him the local honda dealer refuses to reset the torque sensor (the likely problem) from the new rack because they did not install it themselves.

Has anyone on /o/ dealt with this shit?
Is it as easy as just using a honda clone scanner to reset the torque sensor? Should i get a third rack and see if that does it?
It’s absolutely not an alignment issue.

It sounds like he tried to splice in a crowsfoot, which is pretty common on hondas because the o2 sensors are usually crammed in there. I have to do the o2 sensor on my gd3 Fit Sport in the next few weeks here and I’m not looking forward to it because you basically have to stretch the wire all the way to the limit to plug it in. A lot of people mangle the housing when they install it and end up immediately needing a new one so just buy the sensor from amazon of rockauto and be careful with the install or just pay a mechanic $75 to install it for you. It’s like a 15 minute job if you know what you’re doing.

I would just do a new engine air filter and a tune up with spark plugs to make it be all it can be, D17 engines are never fast without sacrificing reliability, if you have twisty roads in the idea, upgrading to 17 inch rims with summer tires on it, and maybe some nice brake pads would make you a heck of a lot faster in mountain road situations where a D17 Civic would normally understeer and be limited by grip of the tires.

If the radio is broken, there is a very good chance it is broken and getting 12v to itself and draining the battery, my 2004 broke and the radio screen would come on and off without any key in it, never stranded me because I drove it often but it's clearly parasitic and probably would drain the battery if the car sat, I've also seen on higher trims, if someone uses a key to unlock the driver's side and then leaves the lock cylinder slightly turned when the yank the key out, the car can think you're trying to unlock forever and have a parasitic draw, but I am heavily leaning towards broken radio being the problem because 2003-2007 Accords do this stupid ass shit all the time.

Yeah I’m not really sure what’s causing it, it’s not the fan blower motor itself I don’t think, more of an airflow issue maybe. I just looked back to when I bought it and I bought the PAC kit, which is more expensive than the Metra kit (it was $340) but it included the replacement cubby with the USB port for going into the back of the head unit and I liked that it matched the OEM style of digits and display if that makes sense. My only other gripe with it is you have to set the temperature two or three degrees higher than what you want but that’s borderline autistic nitpicking.

She had a Ford Edge and was really wanting another SUV to replace it but her budget was only 5k and wew the options around here for CRVs and RAV4s was shit so I told her let’s look at Accords and she liked this one.
