>My gen z colleagues spend the day buying shit they see on Instagram all fucking day it's insane. I don't make shit, same as them, but I have no sympathy for their dumb asses.
Because long term planning, responsibility, work ethic, financial education, etc. are supposed to be taught in school. The education system is in absolute shambles, compounded by limp wristed parents who never discipline their kids because it's difficult and/or they want to be their kid's cool friend rather than their dad, so now you have young adults coming out into the real world with absolutely no clue, no motivation, and the mental maturity of a 10 year old. On top of that being told that you need to save $300k for a house (and better act fast because prices keep rising!) when your leftover money after bills and basic necessities is like $500 is some bullshit, so naturally many just give up on the spot and proceed to either just spend that money on instant gratification or chase get rich quick schemes (stocks, crypto, becoming an influencer, etc.) which never work out. Basically an entire generation set up for failure.
