Stop calling it "Fossil fuel"
That term was coined when doctors were still using leaches to cure "bad blood", before we knew DNA existed or even what blood types were.
The earth's crust creates crude oil just like it creates diamonds.
Nobody has ever turned organic matter into crude oil in a lab.

Well it's lighter, it's cheaper, it's easier to fix, easier to extend the range of, and much easier to safely dispose of if destroyed.

But if I want a vegan bean burger, I'll go get that too. Not fake meat substitutes engineered by elitists trying to reduce population and health to boost funding for medical staff that systematically destroy the agricultural industry which requires politicians to keep the blankets covered over our heads while they retire and throw parties on yachts with underage girls who are promised big rolls in up-coming blockbuster movies that we all believe is telling us the truth but we are all too pacified to do anything about even when the truth and solution is sitting right in the mirror.

My answer to this is why do some people buy rolexes or seiko watches when an apple watch is better?
Because they appreciate craftsmanship and engineering.
However, the vast majority of analog watches are $50 walmart watches, which are not better than apple watches, and there is nothing to appreciate there.

So, the v8 in my car is craftsmanship and engineering and i will appreciate it more than an electric car
However, an electric car is better than some 1.2l 3 cylinder fwd econobox, that's like a $50 walmart watch

My answer to this is why do some people buy rolexes or seiko watches when an apple watch does more things more efficiently?
Because they appreciate craftsmanship and engineering.
However, the vast majority of analog watches are $50 walmart watches, which are not better in any way than apple watches besides being cheaper, so there is nothing to appreciate there.

Similarly, the v8 in my car is craftsmanship and engineering and i will appreciate it more than an electric car
However, an electric car is better than some 1.2l 3 cylinder fwd econobox, the vast majority of what we see on the road.
Most people should be driving quiet electric cars. Those who specifically have a taste for craftsmanship and engineering should be driving ICE cars with big engines. The 4cyl econoboxes can get crushed for all i care.

All you're doing is moving the tailpipe somewhere else. And introducing transmission losses in getting that energy from the plant to your car and storing it in a battery.

Hes right but people don't own homes. Not owning an EV if you own a home in the burbs is retarded. As a city bugman it becomes more of an issue unless you already don't need a car and can take public transit which is the end goal.

>I can refill my gas tank in two minutes

This is honestly where the conversation ends; but for the sake of argument...

>I can repair my car
>I don't have a battery that's constantly deteriorating to the point that it totals the car
>If my car catches fire the fire department can put it out.
>I don't require trillions of dollars of investment in new power generation, rare earth mining, and charging stations to make my car feasible.
>The depreciation curve on my car doesn't go straight off a cliff because it will last for more than 10 years.

On a side note you'd have to be a massive queer to call a V8 "fucking noisy". Given the appearance of the guy making this argument, I'd say massive queer is on the money.

I was just thinking today about how cool engines are.
Fire is ancient technology and the internal combustion engine is the most refined use of fire to accomplish work that I can think of.
To go from building fire pits to squeezing every last bit of energy possible out of a tiny contained explosion created by precisely controlled fuel/air mixtures is incredible.

Idk bro look up the Taycan and all the issues with them. Youโ€™ll spend $20k easily fixing them because they leak voltage into the battery and short out and you get hot wires in there that you got to figure out and itโ€™s a big mess of a car.

Whatever these batteries are in 2025 are bad when something fails. Big expenses. They donโ€™t fix any of this shit they replace it. And it does break and fail all the time. Itโ€™s not there yet and that guys argument is just theoretical. In practical reality these things are still shit and itโ€™s not an argument. Look how fucking bad theyโ€™re doing on the used market and aka yourself why.
