What would be the best vehicle for full time car dwelling and nomad lifestyle all together.

pic related is what I currently have, it’s great, but has limitations, even if I were to get a lift kit and some good all terrain tires. And I feel like it being a hybrid makes it less reliable and harder to work on if something happens.

I’ve been in the Prius for 2 years now, but I’m kind of wanting a 4Runner, it’s just the gas bit kills me for them.
I was also considering an Outback

Give me your opinions and suggestions

being locked down to one place gives me really bad anxiety and depression. I feel more comfortable knowing I can just go somewhere else.
And I never felt at home anywhere and I get really bored in one place too long.

How do you make money or support yourself?

If I was younger and didn't already have a house I think I would be a traveler electrician where you just stay in company housing with high wages and per diem for a decade or so. Without rent and what not I could afford a really nice truck and trailer and still save like $50k/year or more.

If gas is already killing you with a Prius, you will struggle with any dedicated 4x4.

Try camping with the Prius first, and when you start getting into the regular pattern of being unable to access where you want to go, consider trading it in for the 4x4 at that point.

I’ve lived in my Prius for 2 years, I’m saying if I swapped to a 4Runner the gas it would guzzle would kill me, but I like the idea of me being able to reach out to places though

Get a small suspension lift for your Prius and some all terrain tires. A couple of inches and some more traction will greatly expand your range.bI would think there would be rooftop tents made for Subaru that would fit, or could be made to fit a Prius

A Prius is actually a pretty solid choice. One particularly nice feature is that you can run the AC and get 12v power without needing to keep the internal combustion engine running. So, you can keep the car cool and power stuff inside without wasting fuel idling the whole time or worrying about running down the battery.

I'd definitely have a van

I charge $40 for skin flute lessons and $75 for backdoor access. You can get by on not a lot when you live free

Yeah it’s def gold.
I can sleep comfortable through the night in winter and let the car run all night, uses barely any gas.
I dunno, I just think an all gas engine is more reliable and easier to DIY repair if something happens.

I just work odd jobs whoever I end up.
I don’t usually stay longer than a year. I’ll save up enough to live on for months at a time before wanting to head out and go someplace new.
I’m never in cities.

most of the jobs I was referring to aren't in large cities, thats why they have to pay so well... not enough population to staff the construction and then when its done everyone just fucks off to the next site in another state.

Yeah, that’s the work I mostly get.
Just seasonal hands, or hands in general, people will pay to make their lives and work load easier. I find good money in these small towns with a senior living, I’ll do under the table yard work, building maintenance and just keep them really good and happy, you know. They pay me well, I get good references and report.
and once I start feeling closed in and that’s I’ve stayed to long I’ll go somewhere new.
Really wanting a 4Runner though, would I be stupid? I just like em so much m, bros

based on what I know about you so far you probably can't afford one that doesn't already have 300k miles on it already.... also are you a serial killer and just need something bigger for the bodies?

I'd ditch the idea of a car and go for a Merc Sprinter or a Ford Transit van. Obviously you'll lose out on fuel economy but you'll gain big on space. Just park in industrial areas or big box car parks and you're good.

Everyone seems to go for big Lithium Ion batteries and solar panels to power their accessories but I'm a big believer in lead acid batteries still as they won't kill you and they are cheap. Run a couple attached to your alternator for charging with a smart meter that disconnects it from the rest of your car when your car isn't running. Have a small fridge, tiny heater, charge your laptop, etc etc.
