an electric kit car platform would be sick
or a new line of electric sport bikes
anything else would be incredibly lame

they do sell the motor out of the mach-e as a crate engine already, it would be interesting if they offered a rolling chassis/battery

>skateboard platform
It’s not. It’s more like the PSA GAME system. It’s modular and easily adapted to different types of vehicles. It’s not locked in to a single skateboard-style platform with very limited floor height, width, and length.

The big news isn’t a shiny new EV truck model. It’s how it’s being produced. If they can actually deliver on the price (same price point as the Ranger, and they said it’s a midsize truck) that would be something.

Also Tesla was supposed to do this. Instead they went a different route and sunk everything into the Cybertruck. Their VP of production left… and went to Ford.

>a set of compact Crossovers to replace the current range (including the Maverick)
>considerably larger than their predecessors
>also 30-40% more expensive
>new modelnames to disguise the bloat and inflation just like with VW etc
>will break new records in depriciation upon release and get replaced by hybrids 4-5 years later

>model T moment
Hmm…

>1925 Model T
>starting price: $260
>median household income: $1,250
>so roughly 20% of median household income to purchase a new car

>2025 median household income: $80,000 (projected)
>20% = $16,000

Looks like they’ll need to come way down on that price

in 1925 the dollar was gold backed at $20 and ounce which today is $3,350 an ounce
1925
>Model T: $43,550
>Median income: $209,375
so the new EV is cheaper in real terms, but income is much lower in real terms.

Now if only someone made a battery the size of a 60 l fuel tank with actual real range of 500 km that could recharge from 0% to 100% in 5 minutes and didn't actually lose capacity over time. That would be sick.

Allergic to Google or what?

There is no model. The news isn’t centered around a singular vehicle, though they did mention a vague idea about one (a midsize truck with a $30k price point).

It’s about a new type of modular production line that’s easily adapted for different vehicle architecture. This should be interesting to automobile enthusiasts but most of you have bought into Boomer propaganda, so EV’s bad.

Wasn't "the new model T" the panther platform?
Anonymous No.28563878
>>28563868
Eh, the Panther was surprisingly limited in use and configuration, and certainly not made with the goal of getting one in every driveway like the T. We think it's so common since they made a gorillion Crown Vics, but fleet sales were pretty much it past the 80s- no wagons, no coupes, no weird one-offs (other than the Marauder). If anything was the new Model T, it was the Fox platform. They built that shit fast, cheap, and used it for EVERYTHING.

An electric Model T would probably sell ok as a meme desu.
Otherwise this is probably about their rumored "Mustang" sedan variant.

Not OP. Not doing the work for you, but keep saying ridiculous shit and looking like a retard instead of taking a minute to look it up. How does it feel being totally wrong? Good? Bad? “I was simply mistaken” is no excuse when your retard claims are the diametric opposite of what’s being discussed.

Again, this is supposed to be an automobile enthusiast forum, but you fags aren’t enthusiastic because you’re basically brain damaged. “It’s just a new truck on a skateboard platform” is just too stupid to even touch.

>>28564016
Again, the news wasn’t about the model. It was about the platform. Maybe the trade off in towing utility and range are worth it for 20% fewer moving parts, less maintenance, always having a full tank, and being a lot faster. I don’t know. I’m not in marketing and I don’t own an EV.

Nothing can stop what is coming.
By 2030, Ford will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of BYD.
