Tesla vs other Electric Cars
I’ll be honest… gun to my head, if I have to make the switch to an electric vehicle, it’ll be a Tesla sedan.

The problem with Tesla specifically is the forced minimalism, I actually prefer having buttons for things, and other things like turn signal / wiper stocks and non-touch gear selection. Other than that, though? The cars are powerful, charge fast, have high range, and are reasonably priced. Every other brand out there, from companies like Lucid to Polestar, are overpriced and don’t have the same performance. The oversees Chinese competitors from BYD and the like are basically glorified zero-emission taxi cabs, just the most basic quality and functions to keep them affordable. The old guard brands who joined the EV market are also overpriced and don’t perform that well, even if they have better quality interiors.

So really, even though Elon is a gargantuan manchild, why does Tesla still remain the best option for EV consumers?

Teslas are the best cars cause of just convenience features. Imagine having to take your car to the fucking dealership to update the maps. Meanwhile, my Tesla just live streams the latest maps when navigating. My city installed speed cameras and before they even were issuing tickets my Tesla was giving me alerts whenever I approached them.

I'd advice a Kia EV6 over the Model 3. Less value depreciation, more practical and no insurance costs that will bankrupt you. Also Teslas tend to break down. High mileage Teslas tend to have undergone numerous motor swaps.

You can however find Model 3s now for bargain prices.

It appears so. Check out Harry's Garage vids on youtube. Tesla remains the most efficient pure EV. German EV are overpriced. No one's sure about chinkshit yet

I think the Ioniq 6 is more efficient. Harry loves retard fast cars but truth is that Tesla is way overtuned for most people's needs. I agree that German EVs are too overpriced. The Volkswagen ID line-up is also exceptionally ugly and dull.

I think the Koreans have the potential to sweep the Model 3 market. For starters, their cars aren’t butt ugly like most of the German and American EVs, and the interiors are typical to gas models.

>Right stalk for shifting gear, park, and cruise control
>Left dial for media control and programmable functions including climate control and drive mode
>Right dial for cruise control settings
The old Tesla steering wheel is literally perfect. Fuck Elon and his obsession for cost cutting.
Anyway, get a used pre-refreshed model 3 with low mileage for the best bang for your buck. Otherwise, there are promising options in the future like the electric CLA which has good range and is not too expensive but early previews said that the interior materials feel cheap af and performance is mediocre. Rivian R3X (more like a hatchback) also looks promising but the company will likely be dead before then.

Fords new EV platform has the potential to blow Tesla away.

The model 3 is one of the best selling cars on the planet. But it’s a skateboard platform so they’re limited on what they can do. Every model will have the same flor height and close to the same wheel base. Other architecture can be different but not drastically so.

A modular assembly is cheaper, faster (allowing for more QC time), and easier to adapt to different models. Ford is saying the first model (due in 2027) will be a mid sized 4-door $30k electric truck. That same assembly line could easily be retooled to make an electric crossover that’s only marginally similar to the truck. So the EV’s they make will be priced as similar ICE vehicles.

It’s not like a 1990’s Explorer and F-150, where a shit ton of similarities exist between the same platform, or the current C2 platform (Escape, Maverick, Bronco Sport, etc.). It’s an entirely new way of making vehicles, but looks like it’s only adapted for EV’s

You really do get used to no buttons. The shittiest part by far is the turn signals and the make an aftermarket kit that does the turn signals and wipers and shifter, not that you need the shifter.

I had to park one of a client and couldn't stand it even though I only drove it like 30 feet. They don't roll when you let your foot off the accelerator. You let off and the car almost immediately stops. Pushing the accelerator is what makes it move only. The shifter is on the touch screen. You slide your finger up to go forward and back to go back, middle for park. Fucking piece of shit.

In what way on a BEV skateboard?
All the components are separable from each other. The crash bars can also be hack sawed off and replaced.

The only annoying thing, is that the cooling loop is still in its infancy as a system. I think BLADE cells are getting close, but still too far away from being a mature system.
But the litmus test is always going to be if the repair shop can bother to do BASIC diagnostic, and basic disassembly, instead of treating t he entire 70kWh pack as a black soldered box.

It was because they were planning on fsd being way better than it was. You would've been able to put it in autopilot and push the entire steering wheel into the dashboard completely out of the way. Going stalkless was in anticipation of that but it never happened.

Imagine paying a premium for beta testing EV's. I'll keep my gas cars till 2040 or something when they ban new ice cars. By then 15 years of additonal Chinese and European state subsidized R&D trickle down should have made EV's a lot better than it is now.

Other brands are starting to copy Tesla EV but they are much MORE expensive. Now Volkswagon is going to charge monthly and annual subscription fees to have the following features:

-- air conditioning (subscription)
-- more horsepower (subscription)
-- remote start
