Shop manuals aren't generally easy to follow, and have convoluted solutions. I would have heavily struggling changing my timing belt using only the FSM

Lmao no, most cars have extremely detailed factory service manuals that you can download for free and cover everything from engine rebuilding to body repair to fuel system wiring to an in-depth explanation of the cruise control system
