Which car is most commonly bought by people who actually go off road?

We did dune bashing in Qatar and it was all these bad boys (and the Lexus version), like a shitload of them. Our driver said this generatin is the one to get, too, because the newer ones aren't so good offroad.

Just offroad? any 4wd will do. Serious offroaders usually have a beater, because there's a good chance you won't be able to drive it to work on Monday, with a pretzel'd steering gear or bashed-in door.

I've definitely gotten in and out of the passenger door a work before. Or the window Duke style when the weather was nice.

It's true. Side by sides are like 80% of the vehicles you will see in popular off roading locations near me.

After that it goes (from most common to less common)
>Jeeps, all generations
>Toyotas with a frame (Tacoma, 4Runner Landcruiser)
>Nu Broncos
>Ford/Chevy/Dodge full size pickups
>Suzuki Samurais and Sidekicks

That encompasses about 99% of what I see.

The only one I've ever seen offroading was in our 4WD club as a guest on a long weekend trip. He complained the low range was not low enough. Stock tyres. Sadly I think all the ones I see with mud tyres and traction boards lashed to the side windows are larping.

Bikes and quads are typically in their own area.
SxS's have some overflow but if you have something like a CR250R youre going to be bored as fuck out on jeep trails.

My brother in law did a lot of offroading and the done thing was to buy a land cruiser.
We have different land cruisers to the US though.

Basically what I see too, and I'm within 30mi of 3 different huge OHV areas and hundreds of random fire/logging roads etc. Despite how many Wranglers you see that are obvious pavement princesses, they're still by far the most common (among street-legal vehicles) for off roading, probably 80% of what you see at any OHV area. After that I'd say it's specifically the 4Runner, which IMO has the distinction of being the vehicle most likely to get taken off road, if that makes sense.

Jeeps, pic related, and old land cruisers and defenders depending where you are in the world. Saw a dude with a V10 diesel Tuareg once. That was cool. That car drive over anything.

Not a daily driver but some type of dedicated offroad vehicle like UTV or ATV then just haul it to where you wanna have fun. On trails and in the desert I see Wranglers and various trucks, FJs, 4Runners, and older SUVs.

Looking at the tests themselves, it seemed like of the five boxes that made it over the hill, the Haval H6 had the easiest time of it, especially considering it was getting fairly slick and muddy by that point. The CX-5 and CX-60 were about as sure too. The Tuscon got over but had to sit and think about it for a while.

They did a similar test at an earlier time with a slightly different field (dunno if the model years are different too) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsEFOH7KP-Q
Interestingly, the only ones that passed in both tests were the outlander, tuscon, and h6.

Having driven countless crossovers, I'm tired of them but a proper SUV with stuff like locking diffs is almost TOO expensive now. I live in the rust belt as well so anything decently priced has been to the moon and back already.
