>Another lazy import of a global one-size truck
What are they doing different with it that will set it apart from the 1500?
It doesn't look any smaller based on the wheel, well, and arch proportions.
Still a crew cab, probably a dinky bed.
So what's the point?

The modern variants are various degrees of trash and pigfat. The Ranger, GM Twins, and presumably now this are all lazy import trucks. Originally built to size limitations while still obtaining half-ton capability but they're knee-capped in some dumb manner when brought to the US market.
Tacoma and Frontier are the only ones that are designed for the US market but both get the same earful of focus group market research firms that think making a half-ton in disguise is how you approach the pickup market.
Also the Dakota was the only midsize to have a V8 option and engines for "midsizes" have only gotten smaller since then while weight and size bloats.
