how are they STILL not saying anything about the internals of this thing? Isn't it supposed to go on sale in a month or some shit?

They haven't publicized it because it's underwhelming, but reports indicate it will have the same drivetrain as the Civic Hybrid. 200hp, CVT only, 0-60 in 6.2 seconds. I don't see this thing succeeding unless it's priced at like $20k, but a leaked Japenese dealership documents have it priced higher than a Civic Type-R.

I know not everything is meant to be a sports car or whatever, but if you're buying a new "sporty" car with a 2026+ model year, there's no excuse for my nearly twenty year old Infiniti to beat it. It looks sharp though

There used to be a whole class of non-sporty coupes that basically died during the 2000s. Celica, cobalt, prelude etc. Excited to have one for sale again with such good mileage and a nice interior for the current year, although if >>28568821 is correct then the fuel savings aren't worth it for how costly it will be (especially compared to a Miata)

Shouldn't they at least be actively marketing it to normies or something? This should basically be for your average NPC that would otherwise be buying a Corolla or Civic or even some shit tier compact CUV but as a "fun" alternative. Honda is crazy if they expect this to just make waves based off the Prelude name alone unless they expect to sell about as many of these as they did CR-Zs.
Less, even, since I don't see any manual option which most 2/3-door Honda hybrids have previously had.
Anonymous No.28568960 >>28568966 >>28572782
The civic hybrid is msrp'd at 30k flat, the hell makes you think a sports upmarket nameplate would be the same price let alone cheaper.

That powertrain fucking disappointing if true. Couldn't even up the battery to idk 4kwh and give it a bigger ev motor?
Preludes had always been given better engine options over a civic. The prelude was
>refined civic gofastman,
Like a sensible daily driver flex on the eco shitters.

If it's literally a civic with harder suspension and slightly bigger brakes what the fuck Honda.

Same shit with the Integra reboot. Maybe it's pure autism but I liked it when Honda would make slightly different engines for their cars (H22 and B18s compared to K20s and B16s). For the price, realistically I'll take it under 35k, over that is madness and not worth it

Its a got 2 electric motors, a 2.0L NA engine thats used as a generator 90% of the time for the hybrid system. Its "eCVT" meaning there's no transmission at all, and the hybrid system drives the car. The ICE engine does have a direct drive clutch that enables it to assist when needed.

I really don't understand the point of this car when the civic si exists. it does look nicer and I'm sure the design language will carry over to the next civic which should be coming probably in the next year. I dunno why anyone would get this instead of just waiting for the next civic

when you realize what this car is, it's not a bad package. fundamentally it's an integra hybrid coupe with some type R components, and since it's being built in the ohio plant, it'll very likely be priced affordably enough stateside to make sense.
the lack of manual hurts but it makes sense because there literally IS no transmission; it's direct drive to the front wheels with a torquey electric motor that they managed to tune well enough with S+ shift to make it feel like a solid DCT
Anonymous No.28573924
>how are they STILL not saying anything about the internals of this thing?
well my guess was that it was supposed to be a stylish car for women to buy over a BRZ because they do not give a shit about FWD, no LSD, no manual, etc
but that only works if it's cheaper, or at least in the same fucking ball park
